Yes, I had a friend who was a lighting engineer for famous rock bands. You could point at any colour and she would say "Yep, that Magenta 117.0"

Clearly, guzzling Moutai while working enhances your color matching skills!

My father was a Master Coach Painter in the 50's and 60's and could match colours perfectly. It hepled that he only worked on Rolls, Bentley, Princess and Van den Plas cars for the wedding and funeral industry. They were black, black black and blacker!

We had labs full of chemists who did that daily until the ‘80s. Now there’s a crappy machine at the box store that can only get so close.

There was a guy at the local auto paint store that could do that. He was good. Better than the computer/scanner machines.

so impressive.. this is why they keep Chinese people poor or communist.. they are either prevented from taking their talent far enough on their own or they're held back and controlled by the party they work for

BS, he painted the original, too.

I like how he just hangs out, sipping tea, sitting on a crate, waiting for some rando that needs a custom color for their pet project. Like, what’s the business model here?

I would love to believe he's this good at it. But I'm more inclined to believe these are the final attempts of many.

I used to do this (aided by precise formulas and scales), and if legit, this is autistic-level stuff.

The sad thing is that 90% will call this bullshit ai generated click bait.. I’ve seen a guy doing the same .. perhaps not quite as exacting but close ..day in day out of a back street garage in Hanoi.. was opposite the best shrimp pho shop so I had plenty of lunches to watch 😂

I used to do this, but with printing ink. It just takes a good eye for colour, a certain daring, self confidence, practice, and a dash of insanity.

That is cool. I knew a guy that ran the paint color matching for a large manufacturer of paint on the U.S. west coast. He had the same experience and skill the guy in the video had. It was wild.
