"The idea that you can simultaneously attack Canadians and also benefit from what's in Canada— is absurd and it makes no sense." "[The US] cannot have a positive relationship with Canada —while at the same time attacking us, running us down, saying they want to take us over." #cdnpoli

After saying the old Canada-US relationship is over and that Trump wants to "break us so he can own us," I asked PMMC why he's considering joining the US Golden Dome He said "We are in a position now where we cooperate when necessary, but not necessarily cooperate." #cdnpoli

US Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra says the Trump administration is not meeting or strategizing with Alberta separatists, contradicting claims made by the Alberta Prosperity Project that they have met with senior US officials. Hoekstra also dismissed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent calling Alberta “natural partner for the US," saying “Canadians get upset about a number of things" #cdnpoli

Trump is asked "Last night, the Canada tariffs, one, are those a response to the wildfires in Canada? No, no, no. That's separate." Trump: "Canada has been very, very tough on us over the years, for many years, and no other president has done anything about it. I love Canada." "I love the people of Canada, many friends that live in Canada, but their leadership, from Trudeau to the current leadership, I mean, in all fairness to them, they need us to survive." "Without us, there's no way they can survive." Donald J. Trump

They are all the same. They think the same way, that is why we are different and it is important for us to stay in our different countries. What he is saying makes sense to many Nigerians but to many of us it makes not sense, it is nonsense!

No! The US is not being taken advantage of by Canada and Europe when it comes to Tariffs. THAT'S A LIE. The US, on average, charges just about the same on the average product imported from Canada and Europe as they charge us on our exports. Don't believe Trump's lies!

I have to fact check Donald Trump because he keeps spewing nonsense in regards to the US - Canada trade and none of the people around him seem to have the spine to correct him. > "we lose $60-$100B doing business with Canada". No you don't. The US buys discounted oil from Canada that greatly contributes to the country. Also this is goods based deficit. If you add services, which the US has a $25B+ in trade surplus in Canada than the actual trade deficit is much smaller, around $21B according to USTR in 2025. That's on $880B in the two trade. ~3%. > "we have more oil & gas". No you don't. Canada has more oil and almost double the gas - which is just starting to be developed at scale. We also have different type of oil which aren't substitutes and bring massive value to the US. > "we don't need their lumber". Yes you do. Not only Canada has much more lumber, the dominant supplier to the US but it is also a different type. Because of the climate, species and fiber. It is used for different purposes. Canadian lumber is used for framing, roof trusses, 2×4, 2×6. > "They do most of their business with us, I heard 95%". False, he should also know it. Canada send 70% of it merchandise exports to the US. > "We do very small percentage (business) compares to others." False. Canada is America largest export market and biggest trading partner of 25 states. Also in regards to the auto industry: the US has trade surplus with Canada. The US doesn't need anything from Canada? Besides the above, yes you do. Canada has all the critical minerals the US needs and wants and makes NA self sufficient. This also why they want to secure its trade as part of the negotiations. The US - Canada trade is highly beneficial and intertwined; manufacturing systems are integrated, energy is physically joined, infrastructure like rail run across continuously, Canadian pension funds are some of the largest institutio investors in America. We move faster together. Let's build.

I put together a video of Mark Carney's key moments on the US (with Canada) from his speech in New York. Points: > the US is leading technological change. > we share values and interests. > Canada Strong will Make America Great Again. > integration of the economies, especially in some sectors, will make the US (and Canada) more competitive on the world stage. > the US is the most dynamic, resilient, and inventive country the world has ever seen. > Canada needed to step up. Watch. What do you think, is this a new page in relationship and an olive branch from Carney's government to the US?

WATCH: Trump just gave the Canadian Prime Minister a BRUTAL reality check in front of the world. "We don't really want cars from Canada, and we put tariffs on cars from Canada, and at a certain point, it won't make economic sense for Canada to build those cars. And we don't want steel from Canada because we're making our own steel, and we're having massive steel plants being built right now as we speak. We really don't want Canadian steel and we don't want Canadian aluminum and various other things because we want to be able to do it ourselves." "We have a tremendous deficit with Canada. In other words, they have a surplus with us, and there's no reason for us to be subsidizing Canada. Canada is a place that will have to be able to take care of itself economically."

Watters: Canada… the fact that they don't want us to take them over makes me want to invade. I want to quench my imperialist thirst.

We went to a town where you can't separate the United States and Canada, regardless of politics. One family literally has the US-Canada border running right through their house and they told us they're glad Canada is fighting back with retaliatory tariffs.

Everyone says Canada is diversifying away from the US. The US is doing it to us, faster and on purpose. Trump took control of 65 billion barrels from Venezuela. US crude imports from there have quadrupled this year. Their stated goal? Replace oil imports from "an increasingly China-aligned Canada" And now up to $200 billion for American LNG and nuclear with Korea. Let’s not forget about the deal America made with Japan. The same country that asked Canada for our gas in 2022 & Trudeau said there was "no business case.” The US is building an energy empire out of the customers and suppliers we turned away. They are strategic flanking us.
