🇬🇭 🇨🇳 A Ghanaian man has reportedly died after being assaulted by Chinese nationals at a mining site in Amenfi West in the Western Region. According to the Assembly Member for the area, the victim went to the site to get diesel when he was allegedly attacked by security personnel and some Chinese workers at the site. Following the incident, angry community members stormed the galamsey site and set fire to two excavators as well as parts of the site in retaliation. As of now, the Chinese nationals are reported to have fled the area, while tensions remain high.

However, his legal team has filed an application seeking a suspension of the judgment, arguing that a constitutional interpretation case related to the matter is currently pending before the Supreme Court. An incident of Tamil Nadu-based bikers trespassing into the safari route at Bandipur National Park was reported yesterday. The biker, along with a pillion rider, was seen travelling on his motorcycle on the safari route located 3 kms from Bandipur old campus at about 4.50 pm. With tigers and other wild animals being sighted at the tiger reserve, the bikers have neglected the safety norms by straying into the forest. On witnessing the bikers entering the restricted forest area, a few of the Mysuru-based tourists warned them not to enter the forest. However, not yielding to the warning, they continued their jolly ride about 2 kms into the forest and returned on the same route. The video of which was captured by some tourists. Meanwhile, by the time the forest guards could arrive, the duo had fled the spot through the Kekkanahalla check post and Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu. Information has now come to light that the national highway was briefly blocked during an operation to apprehend accused involved in a theft at Jagadamba Jewelry store near #BencheGate in #Kalamabella, #Shira taluk. Thanks to the courageous pursuit by locals and swift police action, four accused individuals were finally caught. After the robbery that took place on February 22 around noon, the accused fled in a Bolero car. Locals chased them for approximately 8 to 10 minutes, covering an estimated 15 kilometers on the national highway. The accused's vehicle reached up to #Tavarekere. During this chase, the locals provided information about the robbers' vehicle to the police. Upon receiving the information, police immediately barricaded and blocked the national highway at Tavarekere, setting a trap for the accused. POLICE SEIZE OVER 18 000 COUNTERFEIT ITEMS WORTH R15.5 MILLION DURING AN INTEGRATED TAKEDOWN OPERATION IN THE JOHANNESBURG CBD SA Police Service 🇿🇦 This week the National Counterfeit Goods Unit in collaboration with its crime fighting partners seized counterfeit goods worth R15.5 million during an integrated takedown operation in the Johannesburg CBD, which targeted a shopping mall on the corner of Rahima Moosa and Von Wielligh Streets. On Friday, 21 June 2024 police in collaboration with members of Gauteng Traffic, officials from the South African Revenue Services (SARS), Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS), Brand Protectors, Crime Prevention Wardens and private security companies executed a search and seizure warrant in terms of the Customs and Excise Act 91 of 1964. Intelligence also led the team to hidden storage facilities at the mall whereby special equipment was utilised to gain entry. The operation resulted in the seizure of over 18 000 counterfeit items seized that included shoes, sports apparel, handbags, caps and perfumes. In addition, the team seized counterfeit goods worth R6.6 million on 13 June 2024 and also seized counterfeit goods worth R5.8 million on 07 June 2024 during similar takedown operations in the Johannesburg CBD. This brings the total value of counterfeit goods seized for the past three weeks to nearly R28 million. #CrimeWatch

Officers were called to Thompson Avenue, Lotusville, after suspects in a white Hyundai i20 attempted a home break-in, which was interrupted by a 17-year-old resident. The suspects fled but crashed their vehicle on an unpaved road in Cornubia. Three suspects ran on foot, with two firing at officers, who returned fire. A fourth suspect, a 52-year-old Tanzanian, was found hiding in the vehicle. He confirmed his accomplices are from Burundi. Despite an extensive search, the other suspects remain at large.

The duo were arrested with the assistance of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on May 25, 2024, at Ibiye, along the Lagos-Badagry expressway, as they attempted to cross the land border to deliver the consignment to Ghana. According to NDLEA's Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the husband and wife were found with 42 blocks of cocaine weighing 47.5 kilograms. A subsequent raid on their residence in Agbara, Ogun State, uncovered an additional eight blocks of cocaine weighing 10 kilograms, bringing the total seizure to 57.5 kilograms. The statement reads: "A cocaine trafficking cartel headed by a couple: Bolanle Lookman Dauda and Olayinka Toheebat Dauda has been smashed in Lagos and Ogun States by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, with multi-billion-naira worth of the illicit drug recovered in two major operations following the arrest of the kingpin and his queen in one of the intelligence-led raids. "The duo were arrested on Saturday 25th May 2024 by operatives of a special operation unit in NDLEA with the support of the Drug Enforcement Administration of the United States at Ibiye, along Lagos-Badagry expressway while attempting to cross the land border to deliver the consignment in Ghana. "At the point of their arrest, 42 blocks of the Class A drug weighing 47.5 kilograms were found on them. A swift follow-up operation in their residence at Plot 24/25 OPIC extension, Petedo road, Agbara, Ogun State, led to the recovery of an additional eight blocks of the same drug weighing 10kg, bringing the total weight of the cocaine seized from the couple to 57.5 kilograms. In a related operation, NDLEA operatives also recovered 1,100 ampoules of fentanyl, a lethal synthetic opioid, from two members of a drug trafficking syndicate at the Idumota market in Lagos Island. Additionally, 432 grams of methamphetamine were seized from two individuals in a separate raid on Lagos Island. The statement said, "In another raid by the special operation unit, no fewer than 1,100 ampoules of lethal synthetic opioid, fentanyl, weighing 6.48kg were recovered from a member of a drug trafficking syndicate, 34-year-old Ikeh Stanley Ifeanyi at the popular Idumota market in Lagos Island. "No less than 790 ampoules of the dangerous opioid weighing 5.273kg were equally seized from another member of the fentanyl syndicate, 48-year-old Chieze Ogechukwu Benjamin who was also arrested at Idumota market. Fentanyl, a lethal synthetic opioid, which is 100 times more potent than heroin is currently responsible for over 70% of overdose deaths as well as a major contributor to fatal and nonfatal overdoses in the US. "Two other persons: Olayiwola Aremu Kazeem, 37, and Ogunfowora Taofik Ajibola, 35, were arrested on Lagos Island in a different raid by NDLEA officers with 432 grams of methamphetamine recovered from them. NDLEA operatives at Tincan port in Lagos intercepted a container marked MSMU 7294325 on May 25, containing a Toyota Highlander SUV with 15 parcels of Loud, a synthetic cannabis strain, weighing 7.5kg. The container, which originated from Toronto and passed through Montreal, Canada, was declared to contain three used vehicles, including the Toyota Highlander. The duo were arrested with the assistance of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on May 25, 2024, at Ibiye, along the Lagos-Badagry expressway, as they attempted to cross the land border to deliver the consignment to Ghana. According to NDLEA's Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the husband and wife were found with 42 blocks of cocaine weighing 47.5 kilograms. A subsequent raid on their residence in Agbara, Ogun State, uncovered an additional eight blocks of cocaine weighing 10 kilograms, bringing the total seizure to 57.5 kilograms. The statement reads: "A cocaine trafficking cartel headed by a couple: Bolanle Lookman Dauda and Olayinka Toheebat Dauda has been smashed in Lagos and Ogun States by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, with multi-billion-naira worth of the illicit drug recovered in two major operations following the arrest of the kingpin and his queen in one of the intelligence-led raids. "The duo were arrested on Saturday 25th May 2024 by operatives of a special operation unit in NDLEA with the support of the Drug Enforcement Administration of the United States at Ibiye, along Lagos-Badagry expressway while attempting to cross the land border to deliver the consignment in Ghana. "At the point of their arrest, 42 blocks of the Class A drug weighing 47.5 kilograms were found on them. The statement said, "In another raid by the special operation unit, no fewer than 1,100 ampoules of lethal synthetic opioid, fentanyl, weighing 6.48kg were recovered from a member of a drug trafficking syndicate, 34-year-old Ikeh Stanley Ifeanyi at the popular Idumota market in Lagos Island. "No less than 790 ampoules of the dangerous opioid weighing 5.273kg were equally seized from another member of the fentanyl syndicate, 48-year-old Chieze Ogechukwu Benjamin who was also arrested at Idumota market. Fentanyl, a lethal synthetic opioid, which is 100 times more potent than heroin is currently responsible for over 70% of overdose deaths as well as a major contributor to fatal and nonfatal overdoses in the US. "Two other persons: Olayiwola Aremu Kazeem, 37, and Ogunfowora Taofik Ajibola, 35, were arrested on Lagos Island in a different raid by NDLEA officers with 432 grams of methamphetamine recovered from them. NDLEA operatives at Tincan port in Lagos intercepted a container marked MSMU 7294325 on May 25, containing a Toyota Highlander SUV with 15 parcels of Loud, a synthetic cannabis strain, weighing 7.5kg. The container, which originated from Toronto and passed through Montreal, Canada, was declared to contain three used vehicles, including the Toyota Highlander. The successful operation once again demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations in protecting civilians and frustrating terrorist activities. INSIDE OYO NATIONAL PARK: HOW ILLEGAL MINING HAS TURNED A PROTECTED FOREST INTO A LAWLESS COMMUNITY. As some of you might recall, i did a light report about illegal mining carried out in Old Oyo National Park which is linked to Kwara State as well in 2023. After the report which, I remembered reaching out to Ministry of Mining, a taskforce was established to curtail the activities of the miners, it worked effectively especially at the Oyo state side but it wasn't working effectively in Kwara state. After the killings of 5 National Park personnel by bandits last week, which I broke the news, I carried out an investigation to see the level of compliance at the Old Oyo National Park where lithium mining activity is going, then i discovered the said mining has become a full blown community. The current number of illegal miners operating at Old Oyo National Park is estimated to be between 200,000 and 400,000, including individuals involved in buying and selling activities at the site. According to my research , there is nothing sold outside the illegal mining site that is not also sold within the site. Items sold include foodstuffs, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, and various forms of hard drugs. There is also the presence of sex workers who render their services to illegal miners inside grass huts constructed within the area. Additionally, medical drugs and medical items such as needles, injections, and intravenous fluids are openly sold at the site. Explosives are also sold to illegal miners and are used for blasting lithium during excavation. There are thousands of blacksmiths on site who fabricate various tools used for illegal mining activities, including shovels, diggers, chisels, and hammers. There is a high rate of child labour at the illegal mining site, also known as Daba. These children are used mainly for sorting lithium from rocks. The illegal mining site is divided into two sections: the Yoruba illegal mining section and the Hausa/Fulani illegal mining section. Both sections are located within Old Oyo National Park. The road leading to the illegal mining site (Daba) is not motorable. Access to the site is only possible by motorcycle. All extracted lithium is transported by motorcycles to Bonni, Igbeti, or Soro in Kishi. This indicates that illegal miners access the mining site through Igbeti, Kishi, and Bonni. As at the time of writing this report, many empty trucks are observed entering through Igbeti, Oyo State, heading directly to Bonni, and passing through Bonni to Jeba Oloru, Kwara State, from where the lithium is transported to destinations of their choice. They operate within the confines of laws established by the illegal miners’ chairman, popularly known as “CD.” Anyone who commits the crime of stealing is punished by death. The area is so enclosed that outsiders can be fished out by them. A bike man who carries lithium from the forest to the truck earns ₦12,000 per bag. One bag of lithium weighs 100kg, and they carry two bags, making 200kg. The miners are so familiar with the area that they can easily move to Igbeti, Kishi, and Bonni in Kwara State from the forest while evading security forces without being noticed, because many of them have been living in the forest for more than three years without seeing the outside world. It is imperative that both the Kwara State Government, Oyo State Government, and the Federal Government get hold of this before it becomes a security problem for the whole country. Illegal mining in Old Oyo National Park is progressing, not regressing.

A male tiger has been found dead in the Kaladhungi Range of Ramnagar Forest Division, causing concern among forest officials. The carcass was spotted by staff at the Forest Corporation Depot in Chakluwa Beat, Compartment 2C, on Tuesday. Forest staff, led by Ranger Mukesh Joshi, recovered the body and brought it to the forest department guest house. A team of two doctors, Dr. Neeraj and Dr. Rajeev, carried out the post-mortem. The tiger, estimated to be 6–7 years old, was found with all organs intact. According to DFO Dhruv Martolia, the death appears to be from an illness, but the exact cause will be confirmed after viscera samples are tested in Bareilly. After the examination, the carcass was disposed of as per forest department protocol. #Uttarakhand

Israeli occupation forces murder municipal worker in overnight ground raid on Blida, south Lebanon —— Israeli soldiers raided the southern Lebanon town of Blida overnight on Thursday, killing a municipal employee during an operation that Tel Aviv later claimed targeted Hezbollah infrastructure. Missouri Task Force 1 Deploying for Texas Flooding Boone County, MO – July 7, 2025 — Missouri Task Force 1 (MO-TF1), a division of the Boone County Fire Protection District, has been activated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to deploy as a Type III Task Force with a focus on water rescue operations and Human Remains Detection (HRD) capabilities. A 50-member team departed Boone County Fire District Headquarters in Columbia, Missouri, enroute to Kerr County, Texas, around 6:30 p.m. this evening. While the final destination has not yet been confirmed, the team will support search and rescue operations in response to the historic flooding affecting the region. This specialized Type III deployment includes four HRD canines and handlers, as well as an additional Search Team Manager. MO-TF1 has also sent two members as part of the Incident Support Team. They will depart for Texas tomorrow. The mission duration is expected to be up to 14 days.
