The "Plain Clothes Man" Bob O'Connor played Paddy Ryan in Public Enemy 1931. One of the greatest Irish Brogue's in cinema

My favorite Marx Bros film. The dialogue is also priceless.

They always took the show on the road to see which parts worked and which parts didn't.

When I was a kid the Marx films occasionally showed up on local TV. I loved them but was struck by strange pauses in the dialogue. About 50 years ago, Duck Soup was re-released to large theaters, and I found out the pauses were perfectly timed for audiences laughter. Genius.
