The impact this had on small me

I played this soundtrack album a lot to my daughter when she was very little. When she finally saw the film, she was quite surprised to find that this excellent song was sung by a human woman, and not — as she had imagined from the audio — by a sheep.

Same. I always credit my ‘Feminist Awakening’ to this film & Space Camp. I remember my mum taking me with her to vote, and saying “You have to do this, women fought & died to enable women to do this” Then when we watched Mary Poppins she made sure I knew what I was watching.

A couple years ago I read the autobiography of Emmeline Pankhurst. It was quite eye-opening! What these women and their U.S. counterparts went through to get us the right to vote is inspiring and humbling. And yet the fight continues.
