Nagar brandishing a long machete and uploading videos of the act on social media. The accused has been identified as Toushif Khan of J.J. Nagar. Senior officer said he is an accused in multiple criminal cases, including assault and attempt to murder, and had failed to appear before the court in connection with the cases. A 35-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his cousin in Idtalli village of Shirasi taluk, Uttara Kannada district. Police are investigating whether a suspected extramarital relationship involving the accused and the victim's wife was the motive behind the killing. The deceased has been identified as Parameshwara Babu Naik (35), while the accused, Parameshwara Thimma Naik (27), is absconding. According to police, the two were maternal cousins who had grown up together under the same roof and were regarded as brothers by their family. A case has been registered, and a search operation is underway to trace the absconding accused. 46-year-old Daniel Sean James has been charged with the murder of Kirandeep Kaur, who police say was sleeping in her bedroom alongside her husband and their three-month-old baby when he allegedly broke into their home and stabbed her in the chest. After the attack, he jumped from a window and broke both of his ankles before being arrested by police. James had earlier allegedly stabbed a man in his 20s in the back on Uxbridge Road at around 7:50am on 12 July. The victim survived with non-life-threatening injuries. He has also been charged with the attempted murder of the man in his 20s and possession of a bladed article. He was remanded in custody.

Police have arrested Chethan, the prime accused in the murder of 21-year-old Lavanya, who was allegedly hacked to death at the KSRTC bus stand in Bantwal on Thursday evening. Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Arun K. said a complaint was registered after Lavanya was found murdered within the jurisdiction of the Bantwal Town Police Station. A case has been registered under Sections 78, 126 and 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to the police, the investigation revealed that Chethan, a distant relative of the victim, had allegedly developed a one-sided obsession with Lavanya. After she repeatedly rejected his advances, he allegedly attacked her with a sword, resulting in her death. Special police teams were constituted to trace the accused, who was located and apprehended in Mangaluru on Friday morning. During interrogation, Chethan reportedly disclosed that he had consumed rat poison. Police immediately shifted him to a government hospital, where he is undergoing treatment under police security. "His arrest procedure will be completed once he recovers. Further legal action will be initiated thereafter," SP Arun K. said. Police said the investigation into the case is continuing.
