Even if all the internet cables in the **Persian Gulf** were cut, the only countries that would be affected are the GCC countries, and the rest of the world would not feel any impact. Services elsewhere would continue without degradation. The only exception is for companies that have many data centers concentrated in the GCC without decentralization. Those services could start failing. So, I would not worry about them cutting those cables. However, if they cut the cables in the **Red Sea**, that would create serious global disruption, because the Red Sea / Suez Canal route connects Europe, Africa, and Asia. Cutting cables there is extremely dangerous. This would be an extreme escalation that could put almost everyone in a position where they might feel compelled to retaliate against Iran, essentially anyone on the planet. That would happen unless the world powers are willing to risk catastrophic destruction on a continental scale. Such a situation could escalate to the use of nuclear weapons.
