No Other Choice needs to be nominated for the Oscar for Best Picture. I love F1- it’s a great film. It’s not more deserving of a Best Picture nom than No Other Choice. If you haven’t see this film yet, I get it- it’s not showing everywhere. But find a way. This movie is that good

I expect The Invite to contend for multiple Oscars in a few months: Best Picture, Best Director for Olivia Wilde, Adapted Screenplay, and depending on how things play out, multiple acting nominations. If you told me tomorrow that all four of this film’s actors (Seth Rogen, Olivia Wilde, Edward Norton & Penelope Cruz) were all nominated for Oscars, I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest. Every actor is outstanding & has their own moment. I think in a few months this film will have 5, 6, potentially 7 Oscar nominations to its name. I’ll definitely come back to this Tweet.

City of God earned 4 Oscar nominations, which include Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography & Best Film Editing. International films have always been a blind spot of mine & since running this account, I’ve really tried to emphasize watching more international films. City of God was a turning point for me. It changed my expectations of what Cinema could achieve & exposed me to just how ripe Brazil is for Cinema. This is a film I wish every single person on Earth would watch.

Amadeus is a film I recommend to anyone looking for a movie to watch regardless of their background. I think this film can connect with everyone. The #Oscars have been around for nearly 100 years. It’s rare to see one film earn 2 Best Actor nominations. This is one of those films

In Bruges deserves to be called a masterpiece- it’s a near perfect film but despite that, this only earned one Oscar nomination, and that was Martin McDonagh’s nomination for Best Original Screenplay. I think multiple actors should’ve been nominated & this should’ve been nominated for Best Picture. It just speaks to the fact that this film was ahead of its time.

The Irishman might be Martin Scorsese’s best film. You guys know how much this film means to me & it’s the film that helped me get through my dad’s cancer diagnosis. Pacino & De Niro are so, so good in this movie. I still think this deserved the Oscar for Best Picture & Director.

The Big Short won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay a decade ago & it was 1,000,000% worthy of the award. What an exceptionally written film, which makes this infinitely rewatchable. This has also one of the most likable casts I can remember- I love every actor in this movie.

Obsession (🌟🌟🌟🌟) is the 5th best film I’ve seen released in 2026 & it’s now streaming on demand. Inde Navarrette’s performance is Oscar-worthy & the fact this is a horror film shouldn’t hold her performance back from winning awards. I think Curry Baker’s future couldn’t be brighter. See this film if you haven’t, folks, it’s unbelievable.

Jessica Chastain is electric in Molly’s Game. This film earned an Aaron Sorkin an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, but it should’ve also earned Chastain a Best Actress nomination. Chastain is asked to do so much this entire film- not to mention she narrates the whole story. I think her character’s evolution over the course of the story is enhanced by her acting. A beautiful film.

The Silence of the Lambs turns 35 years old today. Earlier, I mistakenly wrote that this film came out 25 years ago. But upon my own correction, it’s worth noting that this film won The Big Five at the #Oscars, including Best Picture. It’s not lost on me that such a dark film would be released on #Valentines but if there’s one thing that I, like so many, will remember most from this film, I think it has to be Anthony Hopkins. I wrote extensively near the end of ‘25 about Hopkins’ recently released memoir. Hopkins discusses how he embraced this film & how he eventually created an iconic character. His book brings you closer to this film. Not only did this win Best Picture, within its march to The Big Five, this film won Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. Other than One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and It Happened One Night, we haven’t seen another winner of The Big Five. Happy Anniversary to an iconic film.

Edward Norton is already a four time Oscar nominee, including for Best Actor for this film, American History X. I think Norton will likely become a five time nominee for his recent performance in Olivia Wilde’s The Invite (🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟), which I currently have rated as the year’s best film. Norton is sublime. Would love to see him get some Oscar love.

Sing Sing didn’t receive an Oscar nomination for Best Picture and that still pains me. I wish way more people saw this film because this film speaks to the power of art & art’s ability to rescue those who are left with little. I cried my ass off during this movie. What a film.

The Furious is one of the best films of 2026. I have this currently ranked within my 10 best films of the year & I think this is proper Cinema. Other than John Wick, I can’t think of an action film with better choreography than this in recent memory. I didn’t catch this in theaters - only on streaming - but even from home, I found the experience memorable. Try this film on for size if you haven’t seen it yet.

No Other Choice received zero Oscar nominations today. The word “disappointment” is an understatement to say the least. I don’t think it’s necessary to criticize The Academy too heavily today- I liked most of their decisions. But not this one. This film is Best Picture worthy.

One Battle After Another is one year old. Unquestionably one of the best films I’ve ever seen in a theater, I’m so grateful this film exists & I’m so happy this movie won the Oscar for Best Picture. When a film clicks like this, it’s a feeling you want to hold onto forever. Hence why I always say Cinema is forever. One Battle After Another is truly forever.

"I wrote this movie for my kids to say sorry." 'One Battle After Another' director Paul Thomas Anderson took home three Oscars on Sunday: for the Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture. He dedicated his first award of the night to his four children, calling the movie both an apology for “the housekeeping mess that we left in this world” and a message of encouragement for the next generation. Project Hail Mary needs to be in this conversation. For all the love & attention Dune, The Odyssey & Tom Cruise are about to get- which is deserved- Project Hail Mary is a film I refuse to move on from quickly. This deserves to contend for the Oscar for Best Picture. Unquestionably one of the year’s best films.

The Fisher King is one reason I love director Terry Gilliam. Featuring Jeff Bridges & Robin Williams, I’m not even sure what genre you’d classify this film in because it’s a combination of fantasy, comedy & drama. This earned Williams an Oscar nomination for Best Actor & won Mercedes Ruehl the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. This is a beautiful film.

On the 7th anniversary of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, I still think this is Leonardo DiCaprio’s best performance. He lost the Oscar to Joaquin Phoenix for Joker & it’s a decision that’s aged horribly by the Academy. DiCaprio’s comedic range in this film changed my expectations of Leo as an actor. He reached another level with this film, which also happens to be Tarantino’s best.
