It can fly and navigate by itself in satellite-denied environments. With onboard AI, this fighter can be shielded from the outside work and still maintain considerable capabilities. The system was developed by California-based Anduril. Military analyst Kevin Rowlands said the capture could be both a propaganda victory for Iran and an opportunity to study US technology. Of particular interest would be the propulsion system, communications and navigation systems, and the drone’s controls. The Pentagon said the drone had malfunctioned and was an older version that contained no classified systems or data. Rowlands also believes that the most sensitive technologies may have been protected against capture and exploitation.
