The Left Declared Competence a Civil-Rights Violation The left has reached the point where requiring a police officer to read is considered racial discrimination. Maryland State Police used a neutral examination to determine whether applicants possessed the basic skills needed to write reports and perform police work. Black applicants... failed at higher rates. The Biden Justice Department responded by attacking the examination and helping produce a settlement approaching $3 million. The test did not ask anyone’s race. The department did not exclude anyone because of race. Applicants were measured against the same standard. Under disparate-impact ideology, equality itself became the offense because equality failed to manufacture the desired result. This doctrine requires society to abolish every standard that exposes a disparity. Police examinations become discriminatory. Teacher examinations become discriminatory. Academic requirements become discriminatory. Any measurement of competence remains acceptable only until it measures competence. The humiliation imposed on black Americans is difficult to overstate. The same people who call themselves anti-racists have constructed an ideology based on the assumption that black applicants cannot be expected to meet ordinary standards. They then demand that the standards disappear and congratulate themselves for their compassion. A sane civil-rights movement would insist that every child receive the education required to meet high expectations. The modern left protects failing institutions, lowers the expectations and accuses anyone who notices the decline of racism. How are normal people expected to share a functioning civilization with ideologues who believe that the ability to read should become negotiable when hiring police officers? Roads, hospitals, schools, courts and public-safety agencies depend on competence. Reality does not accept an equity exemption. A police report filled with errors does not become accurate because the officer was hired through a socially approved process. Disparate-impact ideology has converted failure into evidence against the test, incompetence into victimhood and standards into contraband. Every bad result produces the same administrative solution... lower the requirement, punish the institution and invoice the taxpayer. The left would rather abolish qualification than admit that anyone failed to qualify. The public will eventually discover the cost while depending on the people they declared competent by eliminating the evidence that they were not.show more

Last month, it emerged that the Met had hired a suspected child rapist who had failed vetting, through a diversity scheme. In 2023 the police inspectorate found that having lowered literacy and maths standards as part of a diversity drive, the Met had serving officers who were “functionally illiterate”. And like many forces, the Met has significantly lowered its fitness requirement, principally to allow more women into the force. Now just 3.7 on the beep test or around 3.5 minutes of jogging, it is among the easiest in the world. We should be hiring on merit and competence, not skin colour. The security guard on the boat that capsized in the Kariba disaster says there were 153 people on board, yet the boat was not supposed to carry more than 45 people. According to him, the entire crew died except for him and one other colleague. This is a reflection of how lawlessness has become the order of the day in Zimbabwe. How does a boat licensed to carry no more than 45 people end up carrying 153 people without anyone stopping it? Where were the authorities responsible for enforcing safety regulations and protecting lives? It is also a reflection of how desperate our people have become because of a failed economy and failed governance, fuelled by corruption that has become tolerated from the highest office in the land. When laws are routinely ignored, regulations are not enforced and institutions responsible for public safety are weakened, ordinary people ultimately pay the price, sometimes with their lives.

What is surprising is the repeated demand to “CO se baat karao” and “Commander se baat karao,” by the police inspector as if the soldiers were acting on their own. Soldiers deployed on the ground function under the orders of their commanding officers. Whether they had established a checkpoint or were regulating traffic, they were there because their chain of command had assigned them that duty not because they decided it themselves. In such situations, Army commanders should not be expected to entertain public intimidation of their men. If an officer is found to have wrongfully threatened or harassed soldiers performing official duties, the Army should also consider appropriate legal remedies instead of always being on the receiving end of FIR threats. It has increasingly become a weapon to casually threaten Army personnel with an FIR. But where is the accountability when a police officer behaves unprofessionally with serving soldiers? Today’s anti-Israel demonstration was ordered by Metropolitan Police not to start until 13:30 as a minor concession by the organisers to allow congregants to leave the synagogue after services without having to walk through throngs of marchers. Despite this, the organisers chose to form up at 12:00. Police had to be deployed near the entrances to nearby synagogues and on street corners regardless, and we have heard from parents who were afraid to walk home with their children. Not only are the organisers of these marches refusing to respect local communities and the police, but neither are the protesters. Met police officers who, rightly, were arresting a woman holding a sign that read “Long Live the Intifada” were confronted by angry demonstrators chanting “Shame on you”. The reason these protests are so hard to police is because it is not just the overt criminals who cause disruption, but it is the criminals who walk alongside them and attack the police when they move in. This means dozens of police — who are considerably outnumbered to begin with — are required to effect one arrest. Sir Mark Rowley has accepted that there is a threat to synagogues and Jewish people but has still not banned the marches or placed meaningful restrictions on them. He has sent 1,500 officers to police tens of thousands of people and they are getting beaten up doing their jobs. For shame.

This PERFECTLY explains why ‘The Left’ is obsessed with being morally superior “Did you ever ask yourself why it's always the weakest, least competent, and average IQ people who base their entire identity on morality and tolerance?” Here’s the psychology behind it: “Every human being carries the same deep drive to matter, to be respected, to reach something external, whether that's money, status, an attractive partner, or genuine skill at something. In the real world, all of these get measured through competence, strength, and intelligence, and that's exactly the problem for people who fall short on those measurements. They still feel the drive, but they can't reach the goal, at least not to the degree others can, and unconsciously they experience the inferiority that comes with actual objective inferiority. To avoid feeling useless and insignificant, they move the target. Instead of competence, the goal becomes being a good person, a goal defined entirely by them that requires no measurable skill, no competition, and no real work to declare victory in. This gets them the exact same feeling of accomplishment without ever having to develop any of the competence that would normally be required to earn it. The concerns that I was expressing with regard to the penalty clause. What do we do with regard to that, in terms of the ability for everybody who is on the campus, who faces some kind of discrimination? They should be able to go to the equity committee to address it. Unfortunately, that was not doing that. It was only giving a platform to SC, ST, and OBCs to be able to do that, while the general caste students were left out in the cold, and they did not have that particular pathway. Equity squads, through the implicit and explicit nature of discrimination, could take a call. Implicit could mean anything as far as the equity squad is concerned. Would it be through words, through actions, or through some perceptions or preconceived mindset about discrimination? Those were the things which I was speaking about. The Supreme Court has put a stay on it. I welcome it, and I hope the Government of India withdraws this particular guideline and ensures that any guideline that comes into place to address discrimination is not discriminatory in its nature."

ALERT: Bodycam footage released shows a black man trying to run over police officers before being shot and killed, as the family hires George Floyd's attorneys, claiming they failed to de-escalate before killing him. Chicago police were chasing a car, driven by Derek Jordan, which they believed was involved in a shooting earlier in the morning. This dad called 911 because his seven year old autistic son wasn’t behaving and was having a tantrum. The officer that spoke with him told the father that it was completely inappropriate to call the police over this. He said they have an entire town to protect and three officers responded and then asks the dad while chuckling - “can’t handle a seven year old?” The dad tells him that he has called 911 twice before but no one has ever got mad at him like this officer. The officer tells him that they are approaching charging him with false summoning a police officer. He also tells him that if he can’t handle a seven year then maybe they should get CYS involved because clearly the dad needs parenting classes. 😳 Many said the officer was rude and didn’t have to be. That his job is to protect and SERVE the community and that the family was just reaching out, that he needed support and someone to to talk to because they have no idea how hard it is to raise an autistic child? But others said this is not a job for a police officer, that they aren’t counselors and therapists and that there are many resources available through the city that he should using. 💯 I am team police officer. Some may find it rude but this is not in their job description. And being the third time? You have to put a stop to the 911 calls. What do you think? Do you think the officer had a right to be upset and talk the way he was talking to the dad being that this is the third time this has happened? Or, do you think he should have had more compassion for the father?
