My heart hurts watching this. My kids are doing everything they are supposed to do. Working. Showing up. Trying. And still watching their hours disappear. Still stressed about things kids should not have to carry this early. What hurts the most is knowing it is not just them. It is their friends too. An entire generation trying to get a foothold and finding the ground slipping underneath them. I worry about them. About the pressure they are under. About the future they are being handed. This woman and her husband have been busy with things they do with their free time. In the mean time since they are busy, their yard has become overgrown and unsightly. The next door neighbor notices this and decides to just mow it himself to help them out, he really has no other motive to do this. The woman is offended and feels like he has no right to come on her property even if he is helping them out. Is she petty for complaining about someone helping them out or is the man in the wrong here for not wanting to see their unsightly mess?

China moved earlier on EVs, has more energy substitution capacity, and has more room to negotiate through the Iran-Hormuz crisis. A guy in Calgary told me we’re not even allowed to discuss Alberta independence. Think about that. Apparently in Canada, we’re only allowed to talk about approved political topics. Then he said Alberta leaving Canada isn’t legal because one judge said the petition can’t be counted. So I asked him: If that decision was successfully appealed, would that change your mind? He said no. And that’s the whole point. For a lot of people, “it’s not legal” is not actually a legal argument. It’s just a talking point. The second the legal process doesn’t support them anymore, they still oppose it anyway. Quebec had two referendums. The Supreme Court already dealt with the issue of secession. But somehow when Alberta wants to even talk about it, people act like the conversation itself is forbidden. All the more reason for Alberta to quickly get off this dystopian train.
