The Lego team built a full-size Bugatti Chiron using 1 million Technic pieces. Over 90% of the car is Technic (other than chassis, wheels). It took 13,000 human hours to build and can actually drive, powered by 2k+ Lego gear motors.

Lego just revealed the sixth and largest Technic set in the Ultimate Car Concept Series: the Lego Technic Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear. The 1:8-scale set contains 4104 pieces and will cost $449.99 when it goes on sale this July. Lego also built a full-size Sadair's Spear that was driven at the Goodwood Hill by Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh, who set a speed record for a Technic car.

Reviews of the LEGO Project Hail Mary set point to this being a Technic build hiding inside an Icons box. The outside looks like a display model, but inside you get serious gearing. This one is for you if you enjoy mechanical builds more than simple shelf pieces.

🏎 The top Formula 1 drivers took a ride in a pink LEGO Cadillac The iconic company surprised the winners of the Las Vegas Grand Prix with the unusual tribute. A full-size car built from more than 418,000 LEGO bricks delivered the drivers to the podium at the Bellagio. Max Verstappen, Lando Norris and George Russell were in the backseat. The car was built at a LEGO factory. The model is based on the classic 1950s Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special, weighs about two tons, and features working headlights, turn signals and an electric drive with a top speed of around 20 km/h.

LEGO VOLVO: YES, IT DRIVES At first glance, it looks like someone blurred out a Volvo. Look closer: every pixel is a brick. Swedish Lego builder David spent 6+ months and 400,000 pieces recreating the car - not just the shell, but everything. Seats? Lego. Dashboard, glove box, gas cap, even seat belts? Lego. Doors? They open smoother than some real Volvos. Gear selector? Functional. Engine? Turn the key and it actually drives. The only non-brick parts? The tires - because physics. Watching it roll down the street feels like watching reality glitch. Imagine the crash test though - bricks everywhere, and instead of insurance, they just hand you a box and say: rebuild it. Boom! Open source LegoGPT is a building AI, and sure it can be used for Legos but it can also be used for Lego-like building of homes. LegoGPT converts meshes to Lego in one step using 1×1, 1×2, 1×4, 1×6, 1×8, 2×2, 2×4, and 2×6 bricks. Then they evaluate the stability of the design. Finally, they render an image and ask GPT-4o to produce captions to go with the image. This sent to robots and they complete the real-time build. This can absolutely scale and as with Legos, you can use smaller pieces for higher resolution. Testing it detail now with robot assembly. Link:

I’m pissed that I have to drive manually for over eight hours today and risk my life, while my Tesla is perfectly capable of driving itself — but it can’t, all because of dirty, corrupt politicians. Elon and Tesla built us a robot on wheels that can handle situations humans simply can’t. That’s why Tesla’s software is 7–8 times safer than human drivers.
