The Trudeau-era gun “buyback” program is a fiscal misstep that Canada simply can’t afford. With a national deficit projected to hit $61.9 billion in 2025, diverting hundreds of millions—potentially billions—toward confiscating legally owned firearms from law-abiding citizens is, economically speaking, indefensible. The program’s estimated $1.6B cost, which will almost certainly balloon like the failed gun registry of the mid-90's, siphons funds from critical priorities like healthcare, housing, infrastructure and public safety. In addition, the program also fails at its goal: to increase public safety. Since the first gun ban, issued by Trudeau's government via Order-in-Council in May of 2020, law enforcement and policy leaders from across the country have been clear: The data continues to show that legal gun bans have had no measurable effect to slow criminal gun violence. In fact, it's only gotten worse. Primarily, that's because 90%+ of firearms used in violent crimes in Canada are illegally smuggled into the country, not legally owned by Canadian citizens. Firearms purchased in a gun 'buyback' program, aren't the guns being used in crime. If the Mark Carney government is serious about being fiscally responsible, and a protector of the rights of law-abiding gun owners, it would be a pragmatic and prudent first step to scrap this ineffective and costly program. Virginia passed a new gun ban — and now some of the very prosecutors expected to enforce it are saying no. The law makes it a misdemeanor to buy, sell, transfer, import, or manufacture certain “assault firearms,” punishable by up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine. That means a rifle that was legal on June 30th became a crime on July 1st because politicians moved a line on paper. But at least five Virginia prosecutors have already said they will not enforce the ban, arguing that it violates the Second Amendment. Alberta is the last stand for Canada. I’m not Albertan so personally, I would rather they stay in Canada because I understand the detrimental effects that this will have on the country. That being said, it might need to be done. Not just for Alberta - but for Canada. We might have to disassemble this whole thing so we can build something new. Nothing is working here. Our constitution, our judicial system, our parliamentary system….it’s time for a change. Maybe Alberta leaving is exactly what Canada needs to wake up.

The last thing Texas, or the nation needs are Red Flag Laws. As a military veteran and proud gun owner, I know that burdening law-abiding citizens goes against the very spirit of the Second Amendment. That’s exactly why John Cornyn is in trouble, Texans don’t want gun grabs disguised as “safety.” And every time weak Republicans make concessions with our fundamental rights, what’s the first thing the Left says? “We have to do more.” They will never be satisfied until the 2nd Amendment is erased from history. NOT on my watch.

And yet, our laws, prevent him from having the most basic deterrents like pepper spray. If he had it, and used it, he’d be charged. Our government takes firearms from law abiding citizens, ensures we cannot defend ourselves, our property or our family, and puts up a “reasonable defence” clause. The only thing reasonable when you’re being robbed, beaten and outnumbered is unreasonable and disproportionate force. Along with harsh & long sentences. Make this crime, unthinkable.

Why is Gary Anandasangaree so obsessed with snatching legal firearms but so soft on terrorists? We feel that Gary Anandasangaree is perhaps the most incompetent public safety minister in this country’s history. On Monday, federal Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree dropped by a community centre in west end Toronto to stage a press conference regarding Canada’s efforts to reduce youth involvement in gangs and violent crime in this community. While there was media availability for a Q&A after the presser, par for the course, only government-funded and approved journalists were welcomed. So it is that Rebel News (David Menzies) hoped to scrum the public safety minister outside the venue. And there were so many questions to ask. First and foremost, we wanted to know that should the Iranian regime fall in the days ahead, is Anandasangaree onside with making Canada a safe haven for regime operatives fleeing Iran? That’s not that far-fetched. There are already more than 700 Iranian regime operatives in Canada. Why are they here? And why is it so easy for these reprobates to get into Canada? Then again, we know Anandasangaree has a soft spot in his heart for terrorists. Last October it was revealed via court records that before Anandasangaree became Canada’s public safety minister, his riding office repeatedly asked government officials about the immigration application of two members of the Tamil Tigers. That’s right: the future public safety minister for the Dominion of Canada was going to bat for people who are rank-and-file members of a recognized terrorist group! Frankly, this makes us question Anandasangaree’s loyalties. And let’s not forget the news from last week indicating that the Cape Breton gun grab program was a colossal failure. It was expected that 200 guns would be confiscated. Instead, only 25 guns were turned in. Given that the budget for this pilot program was $150,000, that means Ottawa paid out almost $6,000 per gun. Guns, by the way, that were taken away from law-abiding gun owners, not gangbangers. We did indeed get to scrum Anandasangaree but he didn’t have much to say as he ran away to a private meeting room. Yet again another federal minister who exhibits zero accountability when it comes to the independent media. Shameful. What’s more, we feel that Gary Anandasangaree is perhaps the most incompetent public safety minister in this country’s history. And given that previous public safety ministers included the likes of Bill Blair and Marco Mendicino, wow – what an odious benchmark indeed!
