We are in a relatively stable era in Earth's history, and Australia itself has also been stable over the past 100 years. Fearmongering like this is dangerous and dishonest. You have Nobel Prize winners walking away from net zero, figures like Bill Gates moving away, and it is being shown to be all about the money and using said money to control the narrative. All major powers are walking away from it, and other countries are talking about nuclear. Stop with the lies.

That has to be the most ridiculous fear mongering misinformation and lie I’ve read all year. Here’s why: 1. We live on a round planet and our move to net zero will have virtually zero impact on CO2 emissions. China burns more coal per year than we could in 30 years and has actually increased the total amount of coal they burn over the last 10 years. That trend is not reversing any time soon. Factor in India, USA, and other big emitters and we just don’t matter. 2. Currently we are exporting close to 350 million metric tons of coal each year for other countries to burn. That’s 5 x the yearly amount we would use for our entire power grid. So explain to me how that ethically or logically is any different to burning it ourselves. 3. Even factoring our aging coal and gas technology, solar with the batteries needed to make it effective in peak load times is more expensive per mW of electricity than coal or gas. Right now the price doesn’t stack up, meaning we are all paying for our early venture to try to get to net zero before the biggest emitters do. If you want to impact CO2 emissions start by getting the world’s biggest emitters to change their usage. Spreading misinformation and harping on about Australians facing more climate threats because we burn a comparatively minuscule amount of coal is a massive distortion of the truth.

Let’s use data instead of emotion to analyse things. Bushfires have been happening for thousands of years even before industrialisation. It’s part of the bush cycle - for plants and trees to regenerate. Flooding occurs in floodplains. They should not allow housing in floodplains.
