If I need to project an aura of fear or violence to get respect in a relationship, then it is a relationship I do not want to be in. There is a massive difference between having integrity, boundaries, and self-respect; and being manipulated into something I am not , to gain the respect of someone who has security issues and needs me to compromise my integrity. A simple way to put it is, No one wants to be in a relationship with a push over, but a person who needs to gain respect through fear does deserves not deserve respect.

I agree that a man must exemplify masculine traits in a relationship and fulfill that role. Equally, a woman must exemplify feminine traits and fulfill her role.
