The Lion King (Mega Drive) 🦁 vs The Lion King (SNES) 👀 Same game… or not?

The SNES version has better music with vocals but the Mega Drive has beautiful colors where the SNES seems to be washed out...both are tough and great though.

I will say “close enough” but “Sega plays way better.”

SNES has better presentation, MD has better programming. I never got why people think the game is hard until I played the janky SNES version where most of the difficulty comes from the poor implementation.

Genesis has sharper visuals and better music

Definitely a case where the Genesis got the better version. Sharper and more vibrant visuals with a better aspect ratio and music that is punchier and livelier to match the tone of the source material. SNES audio might have better technicals but it's too soft and mellow for me.

Screw the ostrich level. Thank goodness I had the level select cheat growing up. I'd just go to the level with all the caves as adult Simba and beat up all the hyenas.

Both games are the same nostalgic torture but with different music, that's pretty much it.

The SNES has sharper graphics because the Mega Drive version requires blurry graphics (generated by the composite cable) due to the game using more dithering. The SNES can use RGB, resulting in sharper graphics without the excessive dithering of the Mega Drive.

Was the megadrive the more powerful console? I feel when I had the same game on both consoles I preferred the megadrive one

Snes had more difficult platforming and the megadrive version made it slightly easier

I'm not used how different OST sounds on SNES because all my childhood I've played it on SEGA.

I loved this game when i was young, it was very hard to beat

Genesis has better resolution - and the music is better as well.

Yup, it's no fun whatsoever on either of 'em.

Only ever played the MD version and even then I didn’t beat it of course (not yet anyway) but I’ve heard there are noticeable differences between the two
