The Mac Pro case aged better than the most computers

@Vixhal I had the original G3 Bondi Blue tower that is the previous design. When this Mac Pro case came out I was in awe. It still is a fantastic timeless classic design. (Original G3 case on the far left. Mac Pro on the right.)

INSANE. loved your collection.

@Vixhal Not my photo. Sorry I should have clarified. I did own most of these at one time but not a Mac Pro case!

oh, i misunderstood. still having that G3 is rare.

@Vixhal Apple always had the best industrial designers, didn't it?

for sure. they made timeless designs.

@Vixhal When they charge $700 for wheels, if fucking better! (Mac products are a tax on the stupid)

i personally hate apple for being this greedy on some stupid products.

@Vixhal You’ll never convince me there’s a better built tower.

agree

@Vixhal When Apple didn't have woke engineers that created monstrosities like "The Trashcan Mac Pro" and all soldered UN-upgradable main boards.

@Vixhal this is SOO satisfying.

@v10ax embarrassingly satisfying.

@Vixhal That case has survived 3 owners, 2 CPU upgrades, and probably a house move. Built different is an understatement.

REAL.

@Vixhal I snatched up two of these and two G3s to play with… can’t wait.

WOAHH!

@Vixhal Thinking sleeper builds in the cases, and I’m definitely going to turn one G3 into a hermes agent setup

@Vixhal Had a G5 and two different Intel versions. Still the best case design ever.

@Vixhal Damn they’re leaving in future

it was way ahead of its time.

@Vixhal That’s why they succeed

@Vixhal It's an elegant design.. but this is not a very original design.. cases like this existed long before Apple put their spin on them. The most beautiful and innovative cases are for PCs.

@Vixhal Reach is dead🥀

@Vixhal This junk was already outdated when it came out.

@Vixhal The Mac Pro 5,1 is a masterpiece, I bought one and with upgrades it’s a very capable computer even in 2026

@Vixhal Great design. The problem is they stopped supporting the processor with later versions of MacOS. And many software makers stopped supporting the older MacOS versions. So yeah, they’re nice, but very limited today.

@Vixhal I'm still using 2009 model as personal virtualuzed server infra using Proxmox. A lot of memory and cores are still suitable for such ussge.

@Vixhal Is it any good today?

in terms of design, YES

@Vixhal And power?

@Vixhal I have one that is upgraded to dual Xeon 6-core (12 cores total) 3GHz, 96GB ram, SSD and newer graphics card. Still absolutely usable today. Even installed win11 on it with a few hacks.

@Vixhal Win11?!

@Vixhal i bought a faulty 2018 Mac Pro just to strip & out the Mac Mini into for my claude :)

for how much?

@Vixhal it was $180 before shipping.

@Vixhal Apple when they still had a fearless leader.

@Vixhal I had one of these at work in 2014. It was a work of art.

the art

@Vixhal Reminds me of Alienware and less complex and expense.👽🛸

@Vixhal I am so happy for you after so long comeback is here

lfgggg bhai

@Vixhal Man, watching this makes me miss when computers felt like serious tools instead of fancy paperweights. Still got my old tower in the corner judging my current setup

@Vixhal Попробуйте сейчас найти современную стандартную mATX плату под этот корпус и еще чтобы стандартная видеокарта влезала. Это ужасное решение, полная проприетарщина.

@Vixhal Some better than others I guess.

@Vixhal Still use mine daily. It doesn’t go online. Strictly audio.

@Vixhal Class! Honestly surprised the designer’s name isn’t stamped inside the case.

@Vixhal 非常に精度がよかったです ただし、重くて大変でした

@Vixhal The 2019 Mac Pro is my all-time favorite for case design, though I don't like things like proprietary power supplies. I bought one in 2020. Financially, it was the fastest depreciating asset I've ever purchased, losing 80% of its value in about 3 years.

@Vixhal The Mac Pro 5.1 is still my all time favorite computer. Easily upgradeable and fixable. A right to repair dream. It all went downhill after 2012. Now Apple makes just throw away computers that can't be upgraded nor fixed.

@Vixhal Memories ... That really was the best one

@Vixhal funfact of powermac g5 some of thare cpu hade tiny water cooling loop. as the g5 power pc cpu was running so hot. with made apple turn to intel. heat issues mac book on intel platform with apple desinge goal lead apple move over own arm based chips.

@Vixhal 先日、私もMac Proいじって遊びました。 このケースの美しい造形は時代を感じさせない。
