I was a passenger on Tahmeed Coach the other day, traveling from Kisumu to Malindi, and to say I'm traumatized is an understatement. First of all, the driver was driving very recklessly - overtaking dangerously, bullying other motorists off the road, not observing speed limits, or climbing lanes. I’d like to share with you an excerpt from the book "Hemingway Knows Nothing" by Ukrainian Defender, poet, writer Artur Dron. Artur Dron is 24 years old and has defended Ukraine for over three years. Recently, he published a collection of essays called "Hemingway Knows Nothing" - his reflections about war, faith, his brothers-in-arms, life and death. This book made a very strong impression on me, so I've subtitled a video of Artur Dron reading one of the essays himself for you. It's a longer one, but I do think it is worth watching. This essay is called Trench God and in it, Artur reflects on faith during the war. "It’s easy to blame wars on God - after all, among all of us, He’s the only one who’s almighty. But it wasn’t God who drove tanks into Northern Saltivka in Kharkiv. It wasn’t God who sent a bullet into Tourist’s chest. It wasn’t God who shelled hundreds of churches in eastern Ukraine. It wasn’t God who destroyed Bakhmut and Mariupol. People did that. About 143 million of them. Russians. They made the choice to destroy Ukrainians. They crossed Ukraine’s borders with their military equipment. They kill our people and destroy our homes. Every war is started and waged by people. This one - by Russians. This is not a divine test, not a trial of national maturity, or any of those things people say. It is a crime - against life, against nature, against humanity, against God Himself. The consequence of someone’s choice to kill and steal. War is the opposite of God. So where is He, when such horrors are happening to us? With us. Inside the horror. In the buildings of Saltivka. In Tourist. God is in the wounded, the tortured, the raped, the traumatized. In the persecuted, the missing, the imprisoned. In every innocent killed, executed, shot. In the fallen on the battlefield. In all who have made the hardest choice of our time - not to flee, not to hide, not to surrender, not to disappear - but to defend life."

Marc Andreessen explains IBM founder Thomas Watson‘s famous “Wild Ducks” program Marc believes that the organizational complexity is one reason you don’t see innovation at large companies. But that’s not the only reason: “I think there’s another deeper thing underneath that that people really don’t like to talk about, which is the sheer number of people in the world who are capable of doing new things is just a very small set of people. You’re not going to have a hundred of them in a company… You’re going to have 3, 8, or 10, maybe.” Marc learned this early in his career at IBM, which was one of the most powerful companies in the world and had over 440,000 employees at the time. “They had a system that worked really well for 50 years. Most of the employees in the company were expected to basically follow rules… But they had this category of people they called ‘Wild Ducks.’ This was an idea that the founder Thomas Watson came up with. They often had the formal title of an IBM Fellow and they were the people who could make new things.” He continues: “There were eight of them and they got to break all the rules and invent new products. They got to go off and work on something new, they didn’t have to report back, they got to pull people off of other projects to work with them, they got budget when they needed it, and they reported directly to the CEO.” Marc recalls one wild duck, Andy Heller, putting his cowboy boots on the conference room table “amongst an ocean of men in blue suits, white shirts, and red ties.” It was fine for Andy Heller to do that, but it was not fine for you to do that. “They very specifically identified almost like an aristocratic class within our company that gets to play by different rules… Their job is to invent the next breakthrough product. We, IBM management, know that the 6,000 person division is not going to invent the next product. Iran is not defined by a regime which only exists because the CIA installed a Shah who ran a monarchic autocracy which led to the rise of religious fundamentalism and ultimately the Islamic revolution of 1979. Why did the US install him? Because the democratically elected government that ousted him in 1951 nationalised Iranian oil for the benefit of the Iranian people. Iran is NOT defined by the monsters for whom the US created a permissive environment to create a an Islamic terrorist state. The U.S. and British governments did this, NOT the people of Iran. Once we define a nation by the actions of their leaders we create another permissive environment for genocide just as we did in Gaza and now in Lebanon. Iran is a beautiful country steeped in ancient history which has seen them repel invaders time and time again. It’s estimated that just 20% of the population support the regime, yet the US and Israel has deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure. Hundreds of hospitals and schools have been destroyed as well as cultural sites and energy generation facilities. This is NOT a holy war as Trump would have you believe, it’s just another war prosecuted by greedy white men in search of geopolitical power and wealth. Just as it was in 1951 when they actively destroyed democracy to install a dictator, they think they can now deliver new regime change in installing a new monarchic leader in the form of Trump working from home to control Iranian oil. This has NOTHING to do with liberating the Iranian people, Trump is more than happy to deal with a repressive regime as long as they do his bidding and pay a licensing fee to him personally into his Qatari bank account. The problem is, he’s picked on the wrong regime. A regime able to call on centuries of lived experience of invaders. They have no intention of fighting a conventional war, for them it’s about asymmetric warfare. They can instigate attack anywhere in the world to attack American interests. They’ve just chosen not to push that button YET. Trump is out of his league and now desperate for an off-ramp. Iran are more than happy to provide one, but the cost will be crippling both politically and economically. This is the biggest political and military failure in American history. Not because the U.S. military underperformed, they have been outstanding as one would have expected. They’ve carried out their orders to the letter. The question remains however, did they carry out illegal orders? Only time will tell. There is little question that Trump as Commander in Chief, may well find himself accused of war crimes and or crimes against humanity. Once again, time will deliver a verdict on that. Every day the US remains in this war costs billions and Trump’s popularity dips ever further. He’s on political life support already, but it’s the lies that are killing him. He’s up against a smart enemy better at social media than him, who are more than prepared to wait him out, because every day he remains in this quagmire is another nail in his coffin. He’s spent his entire life expecting someone to clean up the mess he leaves behind. That’s why he’s lashing out at allies and threatening to leave NATO. He’s a man in quicksand without a plan and no exit strategy. Even when he has nowhere to turn he can’t help his self enrichment gag reflex kicking in as he considers a ‘joint venture’ with Iran to share the proceeds of tolls on ships navigating the Strait of Hormuz. He’s also embedded Kushner and Witkoff into proceedings to ensure he gets a cut of any reconstruction contracts that might arise as a result of what he’s destroyed. Just as Hitler became delusional in his bunker when it was all over, Trump is facing the same fate. The lies, the twisted narratives, the fantasy that the people believe in him is all part of a cancer that is eating him alive. When he’s gone, if America does not hunt down and jail his enablers, I fear there is no hope and no better tomorrow.

NEW: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says negotiating with the United States is off the table right now. It's too soon for newly chosen supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei to offer comment on talks with the U.S., Araghchi said in an interview with PBS News Hour's Amna Nawaz (amna) on Monday. How do babies assess danger? ⚠️ The ability to detect threats to one’s safety is an important survival mechanism. And your baby begins learning to do so almost immediately after birth. But when literally everything is new to them, how do infants determine what should make them wary? While there is some research to suggest an instinctual basis for the fear of certain stimuli (including potential predators), the primary way your baby assesses threats is social: They learn by watching you. Infants are keen observers of your facial expressions, eyes, body language, and tone of voice - and continually use this data to monitor and assess their own safety. When you’re comfortable in a situation your baby typically will be as well. But if you express apprehension or indicate stress, that can all turn on a dime. As they become more mobile and independent, toddlers begin a whole new process of assessing potential threats in comparison to their own growing abilities. And while they need lots of supervision (and can sometimes wildly overestimate their own levels of skill), it can also be fascinating to watch their cautious navigation of the world. Check out this new walker’s reaction to a large crack in the pavement. As she spots it, she stops dead in her tracks. Her hands jerk outward with surprise. She cautiously steps to the left, presumably to assess whether there is a way around the problem. (But alas, there isn’t.) Look what she does next. She turns her head over her shoulder to check in with Mom. It’s a shame that the original audio here has been replaced with music, but it’s not hard to imagine that Mom offers a bit of verbal reassurance in this moment. This is the episode you’ve all been waiting for. This is the story of the #MartinLooterFund. Suppression is rarely a single act. It arrives as a lawsuit designed not to win, but to harass and abuse. It arrives as an offer, a lunch, a quiet suggestion that there's nothing to gain by pushing further. What the machinery of suppression counts on is the rational assumption that the story is not worth this. Your career is not worth this. Your family is not worth this. Your pain is not worth this. And in the cold calculation of survival, that logic is often correct. The corrupt men of the Philippines have more resources than the people exposing them. They have lawyers, and legislators, and cops, and judges, and NBI Directors, and the institutional patience that comes from never having to worry about next month's rent. But there is a version of this they have not fully accounted for. When the suppression is overwhelming — when they come with every weapon available, when the harassment is visible and the pressure is national — they have revealed themselves. The story they could not kill is now the story of how hard they tried to kill it. The record of their effort becomes the record of their guilt. Steve Jobs on how to build a great brand After re-joining Apple in 1996, Steve Jobs announced the “Think different” campaign with the following statement: “To me, marketing is about values. This is a very complicated and noisy world. We’re not going to get a chance to get people to remember much about us. No company is. So we have to be really clear on what we want them to know about us.” He cites Nike as one of the greatest jobs of marketing the universe has ever seen: “Remember, Nike sells a commodity—they sell shoes! This level of sustained public attack is not usually the price of entry for doing your job as a district attorney. Nor should it be in a country where the rule of law is supposedly the rule. The ability of prosecutors and judges to do their jobs without fear is a fundamental test of our democracy. Whether you like the Georgia criminal case against former President Trump or not, Fani Willis is one of the bellwethers for the rule of law in this country. The history of the rule of law in this country tells us that the rule of law does not magically defend itself. And it is mortal. It can be killed when it is attacked. It breaks. The rule of law in this country, in practical terms, is made up of people doing hard jobs who themselves can break when they are attacked. He has now turned his tricks to, he's going to look at grant programs, which I invite him to do, and we have complied with his subpoenas, but yet he continues his attacks to try to interfere in a criminal investigation while all, while his jurisdiction has one of the worst crime rates, has poverty issues, and not one time has he used his position to try to investigate people who are attacking me and attacking others legitimately, doing their jobs, making him illegitimate in his position. And it's disgusting. And so I bring that up at the federal level because now at the state level, they've decided to follow this clown's lead and they want to now try to interfere in an investigation. And it's not legitimate either. And so it shall fail, and it's not going to go anywhere. But they are trying to attack me at every level."

He has now turned his tricks to, he's going to look at grant programs, which I invite him to do, and we have complied with his subpoenas, but yet he continues his attacks to try to interfere in a criminal investigation while all, while his jurisdiction has one of the worst crime rates, has poverty issues, and not one time has he used his position to try to investigate people who are attacking me and attacking others legitimately, doing their jobs, making him illegitimate in his position. And it's disgusting. And so I bring that up at the federal level because now at the state level, they've decided to follow this clown's lead and they want to now try to interfere in an investigation.
