The main thing I don't understand about Dylan Crews' usage. Why was he hitting up high in order all spring only to be moved to the bottom of the order on Opening Day? What's the logic behind that? And Davey and the Nats have done it before.

It’s about getting AB’s against quality pitching early in Spring games. In the regular season it is about getting the best lineup out there. You guys are smarter than this.

Higher in the lineup usually means more at bats and for a guy developing in spring training. For the season when you gotta win better guys are towards the top. This is pretty straight forward. Fans and media put too much emphasis on this. It’s the player mot the manager.

1. totally normal to see guys hit decently in spring then fail to hit in season 2. Crews got worse during Spring as he faced more major league pitchers 3. Nats basically handed a starting role to Crews that was not earned yet. Now we're questioning where he hits in lineup?

More at bats to see if he was ready in Spring Training and now it’s fewer at bats because they think he isn’t.
