The Mariners current interest level in Eugenio Suarez sends a clear message: they won’t block Colt Emerson at third base Ask yourself this, who will be more valuable in the next two years combined: Geno or Emerson?

I have high hopes for Colt but he has played 40 games above A ball. Here are some AA BAs and OPS for some memorable Mariner prospects. Draw your own conclusions. Colt: .282/.790 Julio: .362/1.007 Kelenic: .253/.857 Ackley: .263/.773 Adam Jones: .298/.825 Seager: .312/.840 Jeremy Reed: .409/1.065

Colt is a SS, JP has to b moved

Geno should be the everyday DH… thereby not blocking Emerson, and if Emerson struggles then Geno gets more games at 3B.

The problem I have is the M’s have ALWAYS been talking about the future. What point is your in your window to win NOW. Emerson will strong in future BUT you will lose pitchers etc. We were told they will play to win now once to this point. Gotta go all in at some point

What's more valuable? The money the organization saves playing Colt Emerson obviously

Don’t we need a DH full time?

What a Joke, you writing off BEN? 🙄 I bet he'll have a Higher WAR than GENO would in Seattle 💯 I don't wanna see .185 250K's for 25HRS... No Thank You

In the same interview, Jerry says they're still pursuing another bat. Very possible signing Geno would make fitting a not yet on the team bat onto the roster. Not only about Colt.

This is a stupid question. Geno can exist on the same roster with Colt and Colt is going to be playing SS next year.

Love how these same guys in November bragged we have no salary restrictions then gaslighting us on youth movement. Wasn’t the entire point of the Robbie Ray trade was to have an extra 25 million? 🤔

Our gm is an idiot. The likelihood of Emerson being good at age 20 is very low!

Emerson but I’d rather have Emerson at SS, Williamson at 3B and Yound at 2B. Golden opportunity to develope a young core of infielders with veteran Naylor…

Colt isnt playing 3B. Colt staying at SS and Williamson at 3B.

The answer is Colt and the money that would have been spent on Geno to get a bat at the trade deadline.

I don’t understand this logic by Dipoto. Geno is better than JP so why wouldn’t you want to sign Geno to play 3rd & let Colt take over for JP when he is ready since he’s, you know, an actual SS? Also, if they’re worried about blocking Ben (for whatever crazy reason), Geno can DH.

Regardless of the 2025 success, I still can’t stand Dipoto. (Aka, DiBozo)…He, and ownership, want us to think that signing Naylor (which was a MUST) is proof enough that they are committed to long-term winning. They are still so enamored with hoarding “prospects”. Two postseasons in 7 years since the “step back” is still nothing to hang your hat on. Trade and make deals now. Win it all this season and we won’t care if the team goes 0-162 each of the next five years.

To answer the question, nobody knows for sure. I have always loved Geno. But there are reasons no other organizations have signed him either. Literally every single organization in MLB has the opportunity. Not just Seattle.

Anyone else know why JP has short locked when Geno offers more? I’m not saying I don’t want JP but Colt plays SS an we’re just acting like JP is Bobby Witt.. I would get Geno call up Colt and have JP move to 2B or if Geno is willing to play DH. Losing Polo and Geno is tough.

Of course not. They’re not gonna block him at 3b or 2B with for Cole Young or Ryan Bliss.

Reading beween lines Dipoto interview, Polo going to Mets devastated Dipoto! Refsnyder was 1st of a two-part reaction; a weakside 'Polo platoon.' Dipoto said he wants 1 more bat, obvious "target": Donovan strongside platoon, perfect 2nd piece of puzzle to replace Polo. Who else??
