Drove on the Ganga Expressway today from Prayagraj to Noida and something bothered me. The road is smooth, wide and genuinely impressive. But in several stretches, there are no guardrails on the right side. A guard rail can protect vehicles from jumping into another lane in the event of tyre bursts, sleepy drivers, sudden swerves and human mistakes. It won’t take much money and can save lives.

🚨HORRIBLE! Driving in reverse (or the wrong way) on an expressway is extremely dangerous and illegal & risk of death is up to 15 times higher than normal expressway accidents. Recently, I was driving on an expressway and I missed the exit. I had to travel 20 km extra for the next exit. I am glad that I did not reverse.

An unidentified pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car at kilometre 9.4 of the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) here on Friday (Jan 10). Shah Alam district police chief ACP Ramsay Embol said the incident occurred at 11.15 pm and involved a car driven by a local man and a male pedestrian believed to be between 50 and 60 years old. “The accident occurred when the pedestrian suddenly crossed the road and was in the middle of the second lane from the right after the ELITE Expressway interchange, heading from Klang towards Damansara, before being struck by a car travelling straight along the lane. “The collision resulted in the pedestrian dying at the scene ,” he said in a statement.

Hundreds of commuters including at least five ambulances were trapped in a severe traffic blockade on Delhi-Jaipur expressway triggered from sudden collapse of a 66kV power transmission line across it near Narsinghpur on Saturday evening, said police. The incident took place around 3.30pm and resulted in at least a 16-kilometres long jam on both the carriageways of the expressway between the cloverleaf intersection near Kherki Daula and Rajiv chowk.
