At least 30 stretches of pavement across Reading will be upgraded using an innovative new process this year. This method of treating footpaths which uses a bitumen sealing process is quicker, cheaper and more environmentally friendly than traditional methods of resurfacing but effective at maintaining the pavement at a high standard for longer. The work can be carried out by the Council’s own Highways team, reducing time and costs, which means more pavements can be improved. Around 160 stretches of pavement have been identified for treatment, and the work will be rolled out over the next five-years. #rdguk

DNA is so durable that info on it can survive for hundreds of years at room temperature. tldr; DNA can be silicon chips and even better. and biocompute is early. $3500 per MB, is a cost that most DNA companies put it. mainly because DNA is expensive to make from scratch. but a chemical engineer from BITS Pilani thought what if there's no making it from scratch and we just pick it out of abundant bacteria? at 23, Anagha is chasing the impossible. and all this is happening in a small lab in 1st Block Koramangla, Bengaluru. her cost? $1 per MB. a person who deeply cares. that's what india needs. but she wants to go further, $1 per TB of storage. which is theoretically possible with a 'micro-fluid' drive. beating the cost of existing storage solutions at $5-6 per TB. and hence, to show this one of a kind journey, chaar diwari is now immortalised inside of a bacteria's dna.

The City’s Bad Buildings Committee has returned to Pretoria Industrial for an illegal electricity disconnection operation. We've arrested an individual who was allegedly posing as a City of Tshwane contractor and was connecting electricity illegally in the area. A fake City of a Tshwane logo was found on their vehicle. We have also impounded the vehicle. Illegal connections endanger lives, damage infrastructure, and undermine service delivery. Residents of Tshwane, 5 suspects, from South Africa and Zimbabwe, were arrested for stealing electrical cables worth millions of rands at the City’s Forsig Electricity Depot, in Pretoria West. The suspects were arrested by the TMPD Cable Theft Unit who acted swiftly following a tip-off about the robbery. We visited the crime scene this afternoon as Tshwane teams were collecting the stolen cables that were found loaded on a truck near the border of Tshwane and the North West. The second truck was found on route towards Soshanguve. Criminal syndicates continue to test the strength of the City’s security measures. We are pleased that the TMPD is ready to weaken these criminal networks. The protection of our infrastructure is vital and demands that we do our best to protect it against criminals. Today, City Hall announced that we are facing a growing and unprecedented budget deficit. San Franciscans voted for accountability and change from the unsustainable status quo at City Hall. The budget deficit is a crisis that we must face head-on, and it will require us to make difficult decisions. We can’t simply cut our way out of this nor can we balance the budget on the backs of working people. We need to stop spending more than we can afford while prioritizing investments that are critical to a full economic recovery and the maintenance of essential services. Beyond living within our means, fostering a diverse and growing economy is critical to eliminating chronic budget deficits. This moment requires all of us to work together to advance the best interests of San Franciscans.
