I used to go camping, kinda like this but mostly with family and friends. I miss those days. I'm to old and tore up to do fun things like this but thanks for this video, brings a lot of old memories 🙏

Ok, so first off - If your tent has no floor, do not set it up on completely soaked ground out in the open. Set it up on drier ground under tree cover. This way it keeps moisture out of the tent and you don’t get hypothermia sleeping on cold wet ground. Especially with the dog sleeping on that ground. Secondly, chop the wood in the tent so you don’t have to dry it out by the stove. Thirdly, these “survival” videos would feel more legitimate if the food wasn’t fresh out of a cooler like that steak and asparagus was. Thats not bush food you would take deep into the woods for a long trek.

The ground is miraculously dry when he’s cooking. It looks like he did a video setting up in the rain, didn’t stay. Came back when it was dry to film him inside cooking.

Why doesn’t the camera get foggy or have any water spots? And doesn’t the rain water from the high end of the slope slide its way inside the tent?

Fake, hewas cutting small wet branches, then he has big fat cut round logs that are perfectly dry in his tent all of a sudden that looked like they wet cut with chain saw.

If this happened to me, my car is nearby because I sure as hell would not carry all that heavy gear backpacking. And if the weather turns like that, I am getting in my car.

Wood Badge training weekend 1. Rained so long and hard, 18 inch spikes pulled themselves sideways through the ground from the guide lines. 62 years, and that’s the worst weather I have ever camped in.

Who carries a fucking wood burner into the woods but not a groundsheet? Who doesn’t have waterproof boots when hiking in this type of climate? These are not great survival skills. Nice dog though…

Yeah, BTDT. I used to make my living doing that. We never carried a tent like that. Usually, I’d get my platoon into a patrol site, get security set, arrange watches and if it was raining, each of us would snuggle up to a tree, wrap ourselves in a poncho with liner and of necessary to stay warm start a tiny propane stove and heat some ramen soup and wait for the moment to start our assigned training mission. While it was miserable to work in a heavy downpour, it was much easier as well. Rain covered the sound of movement; rain screwed with the opponents ability to work against us. However, eventually I did do a Branch transfer as an officer to Armor because tanker live much better than the infantry!
