Before you claim that the Qur’an “exposed Muhammad ﷺ as a false prophet,” let us read the original Arabic sources themselves instead of building an entire argument around the English translation of a single word. First, what does the Qur’an actually say about Muhammad ﷺ? Allah says: “And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.” (Qur’an 21:107) And: “And indeed, you are of a great moral character.” (Qur’an 68:4) And: “Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets.” (Qur’an 33:40) The Qur’an therefore explicitly presents Muhammad ﷺ as the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets. His message is also not presented as being restricted to one particular nation: “And We have not sent you except to all mankind as a bearer of good news and a warner.” (Qur’an 34:28) And: “Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His servant that he may be a warner to the worlds.” (Qur’an 25:1) And regarding the Qur’an: “It is only a reminder to the worlds.” (Qur’an 81:27) Now let us examine the verses you cited: “And if he had falsely attributed some statements to Us, We would certainly have seized him by the right hand, then We would certainly have severed his watīn, and none of you could have shielded him from Us.” (Qur’an 69:44–47) Notice the condition: “If he had falsely attributed…” The passage is saying that if Muhammad ﷺ fabricated revelation and attributed it to Allah, Allah would punish him, and nobody would be able to protect him. But what did you do? You jumped from these verses to the hadith concerning the Prophet’s final illness and claimed that the Qur’anic warning was fulfilled. So let us open the Arabic text of Sahih al-Bukhari 4428. The Prophet ﷺ said: “O Aisha, I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaybar, and now I feel as though my abhar is being cut from that poison.” Now pay close attention to the Arabic. The Qur’an says: الْوَتِينَ — al-watīn The hadith says: أَبْهَرِي — abharī It does not say watīnī. Some English translations may render both anatomical expressions using the word “aorta,” but an English translation does not erase the fact that the original Arabic texts use different words. Even more importantly, the hadith itself explicitly tells you what the Prophet ﷺ associated his pain with: “FROM THAT POISON.” He did not say: “I am being punished by Allah because I fabricated revelation.” He did not say: “The warning in Surah Al-Haqqah has now been fulfilled against me.” And the Qur’an never says: “If Muhammad is poisoned years later, that proves he was a false prophet.” Those are conclusions you added to the texts. There is another important fact that is often omitted from this argument. The poisoning occurred following Khaybar, around 7 AH, whereas Prophet Muhammad ﷺ died in 11 AH. In other words, he lived for roughly four more years after the poisoning incident. Now read the poisoning narrative itself. Jabir reported that a Jewish woman from Khaybar poisoned a roasted sheep and presented it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He and some of his companions ate from it, but then the Prophet ﷺ told them: “Raise your hands.” He then summoned the woman and asked: “Did you poison this sheep?” She asked: “Who told you?” He replied: “This in my hand informed me,” meaning the foreleg/shoulder portion of the sheep. She then admitted that she had poisoned it. This report is found in Sunan Abi Dawud 4510. Its chains and supporting reports have been discussed by hadith scholars, and some scholars have strengthened the report through corroborating evidence. So even the Islamic narration concerning the poisoning does not simply say, “Muhammad ate poison, knew nothing about it, and then died.” Continue 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
