This is amazing advice! I started jujitsu a year ago when I was 58. My instructor who I knew for years before was so accommodating and welcoming. I love training now!!

What a great way to defuse tension and encourage someone nervous to participate.

I try to make a point to stop what I am doing and say hi to each new person that enters the gym! I know that’s what I would like. Hope to see you up on Post Falls, ID soon.

Nice 😊 Nobody does this, so good call 😁🤙🏼

Its the ambassador in me; i make it a point to introduce myself to any new students that come to class. White or black belt. BUT THIS: 🤯 WOW! New mindset unlocked! OK Prof. I will say hello to not just new but potential students, fam or w/e!! #ChallengeAccepted #GJJF 🖤

The Connection Principle

I think it should be normal to greet anyone that walks into your business. However, when I decide to sign up for Jiu Jitsu and watch people spar, I don’t want my possible future coach to smile but have that highly focused death stare. Afterwards he turns human again and we smile while I sign up.

If I see somebody new in class, I will often say hello, introduce myself, especially during warms ups before class. But if I miss them, I will always say hello and ask how class was once it is over. It’s a community.
