The most impressive thing about this is that the ship is still moving forward while he is trying to land.

Sorry Steve, but that helicopter isn't trying to land. That's not a landing spot. I was a helicopter combat search and rescue swimmer in the Navy for 10 years having flown in H-3s and H-60s. Most likely they're practicing VBSS (Visual Board Search and Seizure). Normally a fast rope would appear next with SEALs sliding down. The incredible videos to watch are naval pilots landing on Destroyers and Cruisers during rough seas.

Practice for a fast rope boarding action rather than a landing, particularly with his approach. Just IMO, but that isn't a landing area, at all.

The most impressive thing about this video is they put 007 Goldeneye music to this-SPECIFICALLY the Frigate level song which is obviously a ship. Nice

I like this one, somewhat choppy waves and good wind.

Nothin' but a thing for those guys .... they're good at what they do. I've jumped from them, repelled from them, flown 220 knots 10' off the ground nose down with them. I trust those guys.

Relative velocity is fairly easy to master. The earth is also spinning in this video.

Been there. Done that. (As a passenger) Except it was a CH-46. We picked up some additional passengers while the ship was underway in the Persian Gulf. We did not land. Helo was held (relatively) stationary over the ship as it was steaming ahead. Pretty cool!

Fairly simple formation flying. The moving ship becomes your point of reference.

I've been in a heli that landed on top of a small mountain, between 3 cell towers and trees, with a crazy tail wind. I was kissing my ass goodbye as the pilot dropped us right in the middle of everything.

Where’s the combat inflatable that they can throw and just jump on, like the airplane slides?

The pilot wasn’t trying to land. The pilot moved into position in front of the bridge to enable the sniper on board the helo to cover the bridge as assaulters which were delivered elsewhere on the ship to advance on the bridge undeterred. The was a VBSS training mission.
