I thought the moon was formed via an impact with the earth, and was unable to achieve escape velocity and got stuck in earths gravity...?

Both Earth and Mars must have formed at the same time - trust the Rishis (sages) of Bharat (India) who said Mars is the son of the Earth. They also say that Saturn is the son of the Sun. One day @NASA will accept this theory! 🇮🇳🕉️
