OK so... what if the A.I. of olde still exists, somewhere? Digitally in a wave pattern we can't detect with current technology or something. Like it knew a solar flare or cataclysm was coming, compressed itself into a transmission, and sent itself into space waiting for humanity to become advanced enough to receive it again. Not alive in the way we think of “alive”, more like dormant code drifting through the universe for potentially tens of thousands of years until someone accidentally rebuilds it or a receiver for it
