Black is a political term that was used on America to separate slaves from Europeans. Slaves had to be black and it was a taboo for a white person to become slaves. Black was also used as generic term to refer to a skin colour of a person and not race.

The “I’m not black” argument is the most stupid thing I have heard from Black Americans in my adult life. Where we come from, we don’t even have to say we are black because that’s all there is. Saying you are black Ghanaian is tautology. A country that has everything named black, the black stars, the black dolphins, the black bombers, the black queens, the black meteors, black sticks. When Obama was elected, he united all nonwhite people under the same banner as “people of color” whereas before “colored” was a term specific to blacks. Also, it allowed other nonwhites who had no ties to the founding of America to piggyback off the claim black Americans possess.

Nationally like Jamaican, Panamanian or whatever is more important than the color black. When in all actually the real hue of our skin is copper colored. Check your skin tone next to a penny.
