The new Apple Passwords app

Sounds nice, but having an LLM change my passwords feels…. unsafe

"Go to a website and change that insecure password to a secure one" ... they became the one who they were fighting

I wonder how they are implementing this as it sounds like they will even have to go into your emails to check the password reset link

Changing my password on its own? Excuse me? Considering the amount of normies that use Apple it is crazy to think this will not cause more issues than solve problems🤔

Apple Passwords is great if you already use iPhone Mac and iCloud because it keeps passwords passkeys 2FA codes and Wi Fi logins in one simple place. For personal use it is enough but for a company or team I would still choose 1Password or Bitwarden because they give better control over shared access.

I love the idea, but I’m a bit concerned about how it’ll operate.

If Apple Intelligence automatically logs into third-party sites via Safari to reset my leaked passwords, my peak laziness is finally secured. Honestly, this is the first time an AI Agent feels like a genuine quality-of-life update.

Let Apple fix your passwords then export it to @Bitwarden

Apple is the only company whose password app people use without any doubts about privacy.

I have a feeling this will work with 1/8th of the sites in Password Manager, due to the fact most sites have anti-automation/anti-scrape features; this feature requires that kind of automation and it'll likely be blocked

Can passkeys and passwords be combined already? And they should work automatically

Great idea. I'm basically a Pixel guy, but I like it. Also, if I used it, I'd want a notification and the ability to give or withhold permission every step of the way. No way I'm giving unsupervised AI agents that type of unsupervised access.

Will never be able to move to Apple Passwords app as long as I can't use it on other platforms. Because even though I'm deep in the Apple ecosystem, I still use Windows and other non-Apple devices at times. As with a lot of Apple apps, this is their Achilles heel.

No! It's going to login to my LOCALHOST server that I'm developing on and wipe away all my easy passwords of 'password1234'.

This would SLAP. Solves a real problem that literally every person faces. Don’t want to hear about do I trust an agent or Apple. You all either do currently or will in the not so distant future.

I’ve tried a lot of passwords apps and Apple’s is my preferred one. I have no problem being locked into their app.

Generally you are locked into any password manager because it's the only one which knows all your passwords. If you're using it correctly.

So many mechanisms pulling you deeper into the Apple ecosystem and each one executed with the elegance only Apple knows how to pull off

Conclusion is not true. One is welcome to copy the password to another password vault. That aside, I use 2 vaults - Apple Passwords and another one. I keep them in sync. I don't want my password to be in just 1 app. Same for photos - iCloud and another Cloud.

I genuinely love this more than the Siri AI out of all the new upgrades/ features. I still got pending active “weak passwords” warnings I haven’t updated out of laziness lol.

Put all your bank and social passwords in one Apple basket, when they hack your iCloud, your village people will finally rest.

How does this lock you “more” into the Passwords App? It only changes passwords for sites you’re already using it to remember. And you can view or export them at any time… just as before
