@KEdge23 I joined an army in the 70s, which had around 180,000 regulars, with 55,000 troops in Germany (BAOR) alone. Both the Tories and Labour destroyed it. It offered hope to those who struggled to get a job and put many on the straight and narrow who would have ended up in prison!

And what use is that? 50 000 reserve troops without the permanant military infrastructure to deploy them and support them. 50 000 corpses without sufficient air and armour and countermeasures against drones and low tech high . . Not to mention the permanent military infrastructure needs to train and equip them and keep them deployment capable. Or were you just planning to call up local Pals and ship them to the front for mince meat encounters like Putin does and replace with another swathe, bit like WWI deployment?

That’s odd because the last 14 years of Conservative government slashed defence funding and hollowed out the military so our armed forces are currently not fit for purpose. Labour is trying to fix 14 years of Tory incompetence and neglect across all public services.

Just wondering for the massive length of time ye were in Gov why ye didn’t build up the armed forces but chose to decimate it with cuts etc or now ye are in opp again ye can bs with the best of them
