RFK Jr. opened his second hearing saying he’s confident President Trump will work with Democrats to pass legislation backing his executive order to lower prescription drug prices. “I know how determined President Trump is for us to have the lowest drug prices in the world.” “I also know that he doesn't care how we get there. Then absolute chaos broke out during RFK Jr.’s opening statement. Protestors all over the room started screaming. Peaceful protest is a right—but this was a security failure. If one of them rushed RFK, nothing was stopping them. These were clearly paid activists, and whoever funds them could easily fund someone dangerous. RFK Jr. then revealed that some at HHS are deliberately withholding checks and funding for certain projects—hoping to sabotage the agency’s reputation. “I can tell you that within the agency, there were people who wanted to make the Trump administration look bad and there were checks held up that shouldn't have been.”

The hearing was meant to focus on RFK Jr.’s HHS budget proposal— but Democrats used most of it to attack him personally. In one of the only truly productive moments of today’s hearing, RFK Jr, Sen. Hawley, and Sen. Sanders found rare bipartisan agreement that drug companies shouldn’t get tax breaks for advertising. Sen. Hawley: “Today, I'm introducing legislation to repeal the tax deductibility of these advertisements.” “Can you support that?” RFK Jr: “I 100% support that.” “I bet Sen. Sanders will also support that.” Sen. Sanders: “Absolutely, I think it's time we ended that.”

RFK Jr. was given a moment to completely dismantle the mainstream media’s narrative about the autism database he created at HHS. “There's actually 90 disease databases at my agency.” “Almost every important disease has a registry.” “The registry is intended to help scientists research what causes the ideology of diseases and also what the cures are.” “It's entirely voluntary and patient privacy is protected.” “The data is digitalized and depersonalized so that people cannot find out who the patient is and patients have an absolute right to opt out of it.”

RFK Jr. closed the hearing by exposing Sen. Alsobrooks. She didn’t even know the NIH falls under HHS. RFK Jr: “Is it part of NIH?” Sen. Alsobrooks: “No, it’s actually part of your agency.” RFK Jr: “NIH is part of my agency Sen. Alsobrooks and you should know that.” Sen. Alsobrooks: “These are all of the things you seem unfamiliar with.” RFK Jr: “You're unfamiliar with my agency, and that the NIH and the CDC are part of HHS.”

He's using the Trump tactic. Vocally support something that sucks, which pisses off his base, then use that as his "hey, I support ___" as a disarming counter to his opposition's attacks... ...all while he dismantles everything his opposition is defending. It's genius.
