As a growing number of cities reject Flock, some are turning to Axon for surveillance technology. The problem is that residents have primarily rejected Flock because they value their privacy — but Axon isn't any better. The company says its Axon Vision technology can currently "recognize observable activity such as physical altercations, unauthorized access, medical emergencies, or hazardous conditions" in real time, and it already has millions of CCTV cameras with this capacity. Like Flock, Axon uses AI to bolster its surveillance technology. And Axon also has multiple federal government contracts for tasers, body cameras, and cloud software. Notably, Axon has contracts to provide cameras and data storage to DHS, provide weapons and training for ICE, and more. Axon also made headlines earlier this year when it appeared that Trump bought Axon stock right before ICE sought another $220 million Taser deal which is all but certain to go to the company.

Two NYPD officers were arresting a suspect when he reached for one of the cop's tasers. The officer had taken his eyes off the suspect for a moment. Thankfully the second officer was paying attention and quickly stopped the suspect from getting the taser.

When suspects resist arrest, the results are always ugly but today in NYC thanks to the Diapraghm law, arrests have became more dangerous for everyone. NYPD officers will be arrested & charged with a misdemeanor if they deploy basic control principles used in wrestling and jiu jitsu. This leaves officers with very few options. In this video you see an officer with a clean shot on the suspect deploy the taser and as usual it fails. The officer then deploys pepper spray risking incapacitating him and his partner and its ineffective on the suspect. That leaves the officers with the only options that are left, run away or throw closed fist strikes and use the dry stun feature on the taser, an option that will no longer be available on the NYPD’s newly “updated”Tasers, to attempt to bring the suspect into custody. I’m sure some will claim this is “extrajudicial punishment” but the reality is, this is police work
