@NYPDDaughtry @stevesi Once again protesters forget their actions *do* have consequences. Those who marched for civil rights or the end of a war there were sent to fight understood the point of disruption was to disrupt but were also understood they would be held to account.

We are aware of social media posts regarding an individual detained by our police officers yesterday, and accusations that our officers ripped off a subject’s hijab. This is wholly untrue. Here’s Body-Worn Camera footage showing what really happened: Not only was the hijab not removed from the subject’s head, but our officers once again display the utmost courtesy, professionalism, and respect- by fixing the hijab for the subject. According to the NYPD, outside of Gracie Mansion, at 11:00 am est two protests, one initial and the other a counter protest, took place. During this protest an individual identified as Amir Balat, lit and threw an improvised explosive device, fit with nuts and bolts at protesters that landed near NYPD officers and extinguished itself. After, Balat ran to another individual, Ibrahim Nick, grabbed another device and dropped the device without it going off. After examination from the bomb squad, the nuts, bolts, and screws, along with a hobby fuse were discovered. The NYPD claims that as of right now they do not know if any “energetic material” was included in the makeup of the devices. The NYPD says that there is no indication that the use of the devices is connected to the ongoing operations against Iran. The devices are still being examined and the investigation is ongoing.

Protesters took over the lobby of the Hilton Garden Inn in Manhattan, pushing their calls to abolish ICE and for the agency to leave New York City. Officials with the federal agency, those carrying out the Trump administration’s stated goals of “mass deportations,” were allegedly staying at that hotel. The Hilton has faced calls nationwide to stop housing ICE and other immigration enforcement officials, as tensions escalate nationwide in response to the aggressive escalation under Trump. Arrests of the protesters were carried out by the NYPD unit in charge of counterterrorism and protest control, the Special Response Group (SRG). Mamdani has repeatedly called to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the main agency tasked with carrying out immigration enforcement operations. Mamdani also previously promised to disband the NYPD-SRG counterterrorism and protest control unit. With banners, speakerphones, and signs, the protesters occupied the lobby of the hotel, as NYPD officers demanded they disperse. The protesters continued their chants, saying “ICE out of New York,” “Abolish ICE,” and “The [Hilton] staff deserve a raise!” After about an hour and a half of protesters sitting and chanting inside the lobby, the NYPD-SRG, dressed in riot control gear, moved into the hotel through a back door and arrested the remaining protesters. We relocated to the FCT POLICE COMMAND command today to ensure the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu’s brother, Fineboy, his lawyer, Barrister aloy ejimakor Ejimakor, and 11 others who were arrested and tortured for participating in #FreeNnamdiKanuNow peaceful protest. While we were there, we commenced another phase of our protest, and the police responded by attacking us right in front of the command. Brooklyn: Belt Parkway @ Knapp Street, a 25-year-old man who allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend in New Jersey sparked a chaotic multi-borough pursuit, breaking through police attempts to stop him before being boxed in and arrested on the Belt Parkway. According to police, the incident began in Hoboken, New Jersey, where the suspect allegedly abducted his ex-girlfriend. New Jersey police were tracking the vehicle and notified NYPD Staten Island that it was heading over the Goethals Bridge into Staten Island. The vehicle was reported to have mismatched plates. Officers from the NYPD 62nd Precinct located the vehicle as it continued along the Belt Parkway. Officers attempted to block the vehicle, but the suspect forced his way through, leading to a pursuit. As the suspect attempted to evade police, he sideswiped multiple vehicles, including NYPD police cars, along the Belt Parkway, causing a series of collisions. With the assistance of an NYPD Special Ops helicopter, officers from the NYPD 61st Precinct, NYPD 60th Precinct and officers from MTA Police Department - the helicopter tracked the vehicle from above while units coordinated on the ground. The suspect was ultimately boxed in near the Knapp Street exit on the Belt Parkway and was taken into custody. The officers caught up with the individual and gave him commands to stop, but the perpetrator ignored them. The officers eventually apprehended the suspect, who then brandished a knife at them. Despite receiving multiple commands to drop the knife, the suspect refused. As the suspect goaded the officers to shoot him, they deployed their tasers, but unfortunately, it was ineffective. The suspect then advanced towards the officers, who opened fire on him. The suspect was shot, and two civilians were grazed by stray bullets. One of the officers was also shot in the upper torso, which the NYPD Chief of Department suggests may have been friendly fire. All individuals who were hit were transported to the hospital. The investigation remains ongoing. NYPD Chief of Department also said that the suspct had an extensive criminal record.

Once again at midnight, the Sindh police violently attacked a peaceful protest organized in solidarity with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee’s Baloch Raaji Muchi and in opposition to the brutal crackdown on the movement. Many of the peaceful protesters including women's were arrested and detained by the police. When the protesters resisted, the police were compelled to release some of them, though more than ten protesters remain detained. The state is showing fake negotiation on one side, while harassing and arresting peaceful protesters on the other. To those considering coming to our city to commit crimes or victimize our residents, your actions will not be tolerated and we will not allow you to prey on our residents during a time of crisis. Day and night, we remain dedicated to ensuring the security of your homes and loved ones. Our team is proactively monitoring the evacuation zone, and all sworn officers have transitioned to a tactical alert, ensuring that we have a full contingent of officers available 24 hours a day. During this period we received assistance from our mutual aid partner cities, special thanks to Culver City, Beverly Hills, UCLA, Hawthorne and Redondo Beach. These resources have been a crucial part of our proactive public safety efforts. We are steadfast in our commitment to respond swiftly to any needs that arise. Safety is a partnership between the police and the community—it is also our strongest weapon as we fight crime. We need everyone to follow the curfew orders, the curfew order for the evacuation zone is in effect from sunset to sunrise.
