What is there to even lose focus on in this situation? Haaland being onside was cleared up - that’s fine but Enzo is CLEARLY offside and CLEARLY interfering with play. Forgetting the rules AND the proper processes isn’t losing focus - it’s just incompetence.

If I make a catastrophic error and completely forget to follow guidelines and procedures at work I’m going to be disciplined. It doesn’t matter what mitigating circumstance there was.

And you can’t even say it was a game filled with incidents so their heads would’ve been scrambled - Oliver gave offside fine. Matt Donohue went out of his way to overturn the decision without following the proper process because he clearly forgot the laws.

Crazy part is the lineman, the person tasked mostly with watching the offside lines, spotted it, called it right away and was correct. Then, it took a team working together to overrule that decision. Thought, two brains are better than one. Apparently not. Were they watching?

3 years ago, Arsenal were in a title race with City and the game against Brentford was one of the most diabolical decisions I've ever seen from the VAR. Lee Mason's job in the VAR was to draw the offside line when needed but Brentford scored an offside goal and Lee Mason whose only job was to draw the offside line in that VAR room said he forgot to do that and cost Arsenal 2 points and City ended up winning the league by 2 points that season

If you’re a lorry driver and you “lose focus”, somebody dies. You can’t then apologies and get on with your job again next week. If they can’t concentrate in a room for 2 hours where they’re fully fed and loaded with coffee etc then they shouldn’t be in the job whatsoever.
