Last week I did spot checks at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital after hearing from the public and whistleblowers. Yesterday I met with the hospital administration and we agreed on the following; 1. Accountability & Monitoring: Deploy more hospital inspectors and staff to the control room to monitor CCTV cameras. Take firm action against absenteeism, extortion of money from patients, and unprofessional conduct by some health workers. 2. No Excuses: The administration informed me that there has been a recent salary enhancement and more recruitment. Therefore, there is no justification for absenteeism without valid reason, extortion, or unprofessionalism. 3. Oversight: I committed to visiting the hospital once every month to monitor progress together with the administration. Spot checks will also continue based on reports from whistleblowers. 4. Service Delivery: We discussed the delayed payment of interns and the need for Government to make scan services completely free, since most people cannot afford them. I also raised complaints from Banna Masaka that some medical workers, especially nurses, are rude to patients. The administration promised to continue counseling staff to be more compassionate and patient-centered. 5. Progress: With the new complex now operational, no mothers are sleeping on the floor anymore and our NICU is fully equipped. 6. Fighting Fraud: I ordered the arrest of a conman who has been defrauding patients. The administration claims some people keep him in the hospital, saying he is an "NRM cadre". It is unacceptable to use NRM or any political party as a cover to steal from patients. I also committed to lobbying Government for more infrastructure and drugs for the hospital. Public money must be used for public service delivery — for every mother, father, youth, and child. #kisanjanomoresleep #kisanjanomorecorruption #MasakaCity #HealthForAll #ZeroToleranceToCorruption

Operation Amistad - Responding to the devastating earthquake that struck northern Venezuela, the two Indian Airforce C17s transited through Abidjan enroute to Venezuela carrying 35 T of relief equipment, an Indian Army Field Hospital contingent and two BHISHM cubes. The contingent comprises 41 personnel, including nine medical officers, and is equipped to provide emergency medical care, trauma management, life-saving surgical support and other essential healthcare services to those affected by the earthquake. The team is carrying approximately six tonnes of medical stores and humanitarian relief supplies provided by the Ministry of External Affairs. In addition, one of the two aircraft is transporting a BHISHM Cube (Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog, Hita & Maitri) under India’s Aarogya Maitri Project. The BHISHM Cube is a state-of-the-art, indigenous, rapidly deployable modular medical facility designed specifically for disaster and humanitarian response. Comprising compact, self-contained medical modules, it can be quickly assembled into a fully functional field hospital capable of delivering advanced trauma care, emergency surgeries, intensive care support and essential medical treatment for up to 200 patients. Equipped with portable ventilators, patient monitors, diagnostic equipment, surgical instruments, power generation and oxygen support systems, the BHISHM Cube significantly enhances India’s capability to provide swift and effective medical assistance during humanitarian crises anywhere in the world. The dispatch of the medical contingent under Operation Amistad reflects India’s enduring commitment to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief and its readiness to extend timely support to friendly nations in times of crisis. Brysen Wright, RareBreeds 12U 6'2 180, Wide Receiver St. Augustine, Florida The best player on the field was obvious for Sunday's main event of the Youth National Championship presented by Battle Sports. Wide receiver Bryson Wright is the prototype as a pass catcher. Massive frame that is already Power Five ready despite still in middle school. He is filled out and with six-plus years of development before he can even enter a college weight training program, he passes the eye test better than most top wide receiver prospects in the 2024 class right now. An addition to the already star studded RareBreeds perennial Yfbplayoff winning squad, Wright has brought a 'Florida swagger' to a team that dominated 40-14. "The coaching." said Wright on what has elevated him to the top of his age group. "I've been working with the right coaching, learning how to not be selfish and always just do the best I can. Normally tall, bigger guys can't play the way I play. I'm athletic for my size and that's really the biggest part of my game that makes me different." Intangible-wise he checks every single box the same as his size. Wright was able to run multiple routes and did not simply rely on being the biggest skill position player on the field. He is a natural catcher of the football and showed it on a highlight-worthy one-handed grab in the left corner of the endzone early in the contest. On an in-breaking 10-yard route, Wright took a reception for 40-plus for a score proving he can mix in some explosiveness and speed to being a massive target. Ohio State, Florida State, North Carolina and Georgia are schools he hopes to hear from once he gets to the high school level, but he may not have to wait too long. College coaches are already taking notice of the advanced offensive weapon and he could end up one of the few middle school prospects to earn Power Five offers before even deciding where he plays high school ball.

🚨 It’s 1:00 a.m. in Iran. Here are my 15 key observations from Day 12 of nationwide protests [January 8]: 1️⃣ The largest anti-regime protests of the Islamic Republic’s 47-year history unfolded on Day 12. When aggregated nationwide, turnout reached multi-million levels. 2️⃣ Since the unrest began, protests have been reported in at least 111 cities across all 31 provinces, underscoring the truly national scope of the uprising. 3️⃣ Today’s protests followed the first-ever direct call by Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, scheduled for 8:00 p.m. The response was widespread and visible across major cities. 4️⃣ Another nationwide call has already been issued for tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. Observers say the movement still has room to grow. 5️⃣ Analysts argue that the success of today’s call and dominant street slogans have effectively solidified Reza Pahlavi’s position as the central figure of the protests. 6️⃣ One of tonight’s largest demonstrations took place in Mashhad, Khamenei’s hometown and a city tightly controlled by his inner circle—a major symbolic blow. 7️⃣ In Tehran, protests expanded into more affluent neighborhoods like Vanak for the first time. Drivers joined in with continuous honking, while bazaar merchants went on strike in around 50 cities nationwide. 8️⃣ Student protests have erupted at 36 universities so far, with openly anti-regime slogans—an important escalation across generations. 9️⃣ Iranian human rights groups report at least 45 protesters killed, including 8 children, and hundreds injured. Yesterday alone saw 13 deaths, making it one of the bloodiest days so far. 🔟 Calls are growing—by both Iranian and non-Iranian activists—for world leaders to engage directly with Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, including renewed attention to a potential meeting with Donald Trump and the provision of resources to help him better lead the uprising. 11. Trump, in a recent interview, reiterated warnings to the regime and said of Pahlavi: “I’ve watched him, he seems like a nice person—but I’m not sure this is the right moment, as president, to do something like that.” 12. State media, while forced to acknowledge unrest, are pushing a narrative of “small crowds” and emphasizing alleged attacks on security forces—a pattern analysts warn may signal preparation for harsher repression. 13. Meanwhile, rare pro-regime gatherings were staged, alongside headlines declaring “the defeat of counter-revolutionaries”—widely seen as damage control. 14. Social media (Instagram) ahead of protests showed unprecedented public coordination and solidarity: shop closures announced in advance, emotional farewell messages, and strong virtual participation even from those unable to attend. 15. Outlook: Protests are expected to continue in the coming days—especially tomorrow. The movement’s success will hinge on the public’s ability to neutralize the Islamic Republic’s repressive apparatus. So far, the regime appears not to have deployed its full coercive capacity, relying instead on mass arrests and widespread injuries. If protests advance to the point of overrunning security and state institutions, the regime may resort to large-scale lethal violence. The role of Israel and the United States is crucial to the success of the protests. So far, there are no clear signs that the regime’s repressive apparatus is cracking.
