Imagine thinking these were the good old days. Looks as grim as fuck, and it was!

Pre TOPS no. on the loco, steam heating and an oil lamp on the back of the train. A long time ago.

An engine with coaches , not a train of coaches and nothing up front . Enjoy it while it lasts .

@SettleCarlisle Remember these days as a kid travelling on these trains. Also the suburban line out of Euston on the class 501

Taken from the window of Derby Powerbox by the looks of it, before the newer DY430 signal was installed, that protected Platforms 1-3 😎

Back in the day, a ticket to Bristol from Bath woukd allow you to travel to all Bristol stations so after a few hours spotting at Temple Meads, we'd take a ride behind one of these beasts up to Parkway and do the same for the return journey.

And that service is now probably a 4-car Voyager.

I regularly caught the train to St Pancras from Derby, normally peak hauled. Mk2 stock mostly, then mark2e/f started appearing. A much friendlier train service than Birmingham - Euston.

Rather interesting are what appear to be 03 shunters stabled on the right. Wonder what they were doing there.
