Peter Thiel on how to build the next billion-dollar startup: "Every moment in the history of business happens only once. The next Mark Zuckerberg won't be starting a social networking site. The next Bill Gates won't start an operating system. The next Elon Musk won't start a Tesla electric car company." Peter's entire thesis rejects the idea of formulas in business. As he puts it: "Science starts with things that are experimentally repeatable, but great businesses are zero to one; they're always one-of-a-kind. There is always this anti-formulaic quality." So what's the one theme he keeps coming back to? "This need for differentiation. What are you doing that nobody else is doing? What ideas do you have that nobody else has? What great business are you working on that no one else is working on?" He continues: "If you're a founder or an entrepreneur, you should always aim to build a monopoly where you're the only person in the world doing what you're doing. There really are only two kinds of businesses in this world: businesses that are in crazy competition and one-of-a-kind businesses that are monopolies." On why you shouldn't just iterate your way to success: "The core thing is to have a great product, and then you can always improve and iterate on that. If you're just trying to optimize and you don't have a great product, that rarely works." His advice? Think 5 to 10 years ahead: "Why will this be a really valuable business in 5 to 10 years? How's the competitive landscape going to develop? These are hard questions to answer, but the great entrepreneurs I know always have some perspective on it. When I was playing chess, one of the early lessons I learned was, a bad plan is still always better than no plan at all." On what makes work meaningful: "It's great to be working on problems where if you weren't working on them, nobody else would do them. Even with the video quality, it’s the one I go back to the most. It’s gotta be number 1 for me. Another one that’ll always be up there is Mark Hominick at UFC 129. So many good options. Too many to pick from. That said, if we’re talking live in the arena, nothing matches a Conor McGregor walkout. A different level of energy than anything I’ve ever witnessed or felt.

Tata Altroz has aced 95% fit and finish part and this car is made from heart by their engineers for the people who think from heart. Previous Altroz too had fine quality standards. My walkaround covers some 20 checkpoints which no one bothers to check but me as a customer always appreciate when brands put an extra attention to detail in things like hidden areas, insulation, panel gaps, screw colour and other such 100 things. Such things differentiates a great car from other cars that are squeezed for profits only. This is a part of build-quality, 5 stars alone aren’t enough.

The X68000 was one of the best home computers for enjoying classic Konami and Capcom arcade games. Its hardware was so powerful that, aside from the Neo Geo, it was virtually the only system capable of delivering near-perfect arcade conversions at the time. Unfortunately, it was extremely expensive and sold exclusively in Japan, so very few people ever had the chance to experience it. Even today, decades after its release, the quality of its games is still incredibly impressive. Ghouls ’n Ghosts is a perfect example. Compared to the Mega Drive and PC Engine versions, the X68000 port is on an entirely different level in terms of accuracy and overall quality. It’s still amazing to think that a game this good could fit on just two floppy disks.

Amodei: “I think if we handle this wrongly, you could have a situation where there’s a very small number of people, or one person, who has their hand on the button and controls those 10 million drones.” One person. Ten million kinetic assets. Zero biological resistance. Every balance of power in history came down to one thing.
