The only positive thing mentioned about Somalia/Puntland/Somaliland during UN Security Council meeting was #Puntland Local Elections. The UN also rejected the so called NCC and acknowledged Puntland is not part of it.

Puntland state of #Somalia is winning against international terrorists! Glad to see Idil and many singers from Somali states showing support for the Puntland State of Somalia Army against #ISIS terrorists. Somalis around the world are standing with #Puntland and backing the Puntland army, except for the incompetent administration in #Mogadishu.

Puntland should not be destabilized Puntland is a stable and peaceful state in Somalia. It should not be destabilized. After eight months of fierce fighting against ISIS in the mountainous Bari region, Puntland defeated ISIS. Before that, it had also cleared Al-Shabaab from the territory it administers — an area that accounts for at least one-third of Somalia. Puntland is a core and indispensable part of the Somali Republic. Weakening Puntland weakens Somalia. ————————————————— The song below captures how Somalis in Puntland view themselves and their state. It is titled “Follow Puntland's example” —————————————————— Ku dayo Puntland, ku dayo Follow Puntland's example Ku dayo Puntland, ku dayo Follow Puntland's way Siday bulshadeedu tahay See what its people are like Ku baro Puntland, ku baro Come to know Puntland Ku baro Puntland, ku baro Take note of Puntland Inay nabad buuxda tahay It is a land of complete peace Bal daya galka baaxadda leh Behold its wide and beautiful lakes Bal eeg badaha isku xiran See the seas that meet along its shores Haddana barriga udgoon Then behold the Land of Frankincense Bal eeg bidixda iyo midig Look to your left and to your right Jaleec labadaada baal Let your gaze wander on every side Bal eeg quruxdiisa badan Take in the beauty that surrounds you Dal xiisku u baahan yahay A land made to be discovered

Divided Nation: The Government of Puntland has officially announced that the Turkish 🇹🇷 “Blue Economy” deal with Villa Somalia has nothing to do with Puntland and that #Puntland’s maritime economy is under the sole sovereignty of Puntland. With all of that, should Puntland declare independence from Villa Somalia instead of wasting its time trying to negotiate with people who constantly violate even the most basic agreements?

In recent years, a misleading and dangerous narrative has gained traction in Somali political discourse, one that reduces Puntland to a tribal entity while positioning Somalia as the only legitimate national framework. This notion is not only inaccurate but also undermines the political reality on the ground. Puntland is not a tribe, it is a functioning government. And the people of Puntland are justified in putting Puntland first because it is the only government that has consistently provided them with services, stability, and a sense of civic belonging. A government, by definition, is an institution that delivers essential services such as security, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and public administration. It operates under a legal framework, often anchored in a constitution, and is staffed by institutions that enforce laws, collect revenue, and govern society. Puntland has fulfilled all of these functions. Since its founding in 1998, Puntland has operated with a constitution, a regional parliament, executive leadership, and a judiciary. It has established police forces, intelligence services, and military units that maintain peace in its territories. Puntland has built and operated public schools, hospitals, and administrative offices across its regions. These are the markers of a functioning government, not the features of a tribe. There is no tribe called Puntland. Rather, Puntland is a coalition of diverse communities and clans who voluntarily came together to build a regional authority in response to the collapse of Somalia’s central government. To describe Puntland as a tribe is to fundamentally misunderstand or deliberately distort the nature of its political structure. Tribes are kinship-based social formations; they do not have constitutions, flags, or formal governments that deliver public goods. Puntland is a political entity, a state government within the federal system of Somalia, that exists because it filled a vacuum created by the central state’s failure. That failure is not theoretical, it is lived and real. For decades, the Federal Government of Somalia has been unable to provide basic services to its citizens. Many regions of the country have been mired in conflict, neglect, and administrative collapse. In contrast, Puntland emerged as a self-reliant response to this vacuum. It did not wait for Mogadishu to bring security, law, and order. Instead, it built those systems on its own, using local capacity, leadership, and popular support. While the international community debated Somalia’s future, Puntland created one for its people. This is why many Puntlanders identify with Puntland first. It is not out of tribalism or secessionist ambition but because Puntland is the government that has served them. Loyalty is earned through service and protection. National identity cannot be forced from above; it must emerge from the legitimacy and performance of institutions. For Puntlanders, Puntland is not only a region but also a source of security, education, opportunity, and governance. In this context, putting Puntland first is a rational, even patriotic, act. Critics who attempt to diminish Puntland’s role by labeling it a tribal entity are engaging in a harmful narrative. Not only does this view ignore the facts, but it also disrespects the hard work of those who built Puntland’s institutions and continue to uphold them. Reducing Puntland to a tribe is a political distortion designed to strip its people of their agency and undermine their political achievements. It is both factually wrong and morally irresponsible.

The amount of vile hatred coming from these so-called “Somali” brothers toward the people of Puntland is neither shocking nor surprising. What they don’t understand is that the people of Puntland will continue to safeguard and celebrate their identity wherever they are in the world. Here’s the thing they can’t stand: it was we in #Puntland who helped resuscitate the brain-dead Somali project, and to our surprise, the Frankenstein started attacking us. Even today, Puntland protects and defends itself, nearly 28 years without the African Union, while those protected by the African Union work around the clock to undermine #Puntland. They try to destroy Puntland, but like the phoenix, it rises from the ashes, glorious and majestic. We do not wish harm upon anyone. We are peaceful, loving people. Unfortunately, our so-called “Somali” brothers would rather see us dead and eradicated. We will never die because, as the saying goes, “What is dead may never die, but rises again harder and stronger.”

A man has sold his daughter because of severe poverty in Puntland, Somalia. A man from Puntland has been forced to sell his daughter due to worsening poverty in the region. Despite seeking help from the Puntland administration, he received no assistance. With the local government unresponsive, he now appeals to the federal government for support in selling his daughter. Why is the Puntland government ignoring this situation?

#ALERT: Puntland Declares Hassan Sheikh a “Former President” Puntland Government has announced that it no longer recognizes Hassan Sheikh Mohamud as the legitimate president of Somalia, declaring that the Federal Government has lost the legal mandate under which it was elected. The statement came as Puntland authorities welcomed resolutions issued by the “Future of Somalia Council,” amid escalating political tensions between #Garowe and #Mogadishu. According to Puntland officials, the regional cabinet agreed that Somali stakeholders — particularly influential political and community leaders — should urgently convene to discuss what it described as the country’s “uncertain future” and worsening political direction. Puntland also warned foreign governments and international organizations against entering into agreements with what it called an “unconsented administration,” arguing that such deals could undermine their long-term interests and legitimacy in Somalia. The regional administration further condemned what it described as Federal Government actions involving land seizures, forced displacement, and the detention of individuals holding opposing political views. The latest declaration marks a significant escalation in the long-running dispute between Puntland and the Federal Government, raising fresh concerns over political fragmentation and constitutional tensions in Somalia. Puntland First is not just an idea, it is a movement that has already captured the hearts and minds of our people, both in the diaspora and at home. From the living rooms of Puntland to the classrooms where our children dream, from the main square of Puntland to the sports arenas where our youth unite, Puntland First is everywhere. It is alive in the spirit of our people. It is here to stay. It is here to serve. And it belongs to every Puntlander, wherever they may be.
