“Like I said during New Year’s Eve, a døg only barks when it doesn’t understand. Many of you may not understand why I rarely shout or complain, it’s because I know the value of what I have. What matters most is peace for our dear state, and by the special grace of God, we will achieve it.” — Governor Sim Fubara, speaking today

The world Paperweight Title. One reason I curate so much is to know where we came from and where we are going. It is not always to agree or disagree with the past but to show it through the lens of that epoch. This is the only way to understand the past.

“We have a big task ahead: to preach the gospel of Mr. President Tinubu. I made this decision to ensure his re-election will be smooth and easy in Rivers State come 2027. If not for any other reason, I recognize the sacrifices he has made, which gives me the opportunity to serve in government today.” —Governor Sim Fubara

“Fubara is going around boasting that we are toothless bulldogs. That this assembly cannot do anything. Sim Fubara is a big mistake. The problem is not between Fubara and Wike, but between Fubara and the constitution. And this time, we will see the impeachment process through. — Speaker Martin Amaewhule

A lot of people cannot understand or appreciate why we caution our friends not to abuse power but the reason is simple, the repercussion of tyranny is usually catastrophic and it may even endanger our hard earned Democracy... LIFE should never be about POWER only. HERE WAS GOVERNOR NYESOM WIKE REBUKING HIS FORMER BOSS, GOVERNOR CHIBUIKE ROTIMI AMAECHI... This is why we find his fight against GOVERNOR SIM FUBARA very bizarre. I have never had a personal relationship with FUBARA. Never. But he deserves our SYMPATHY...

The only reason they are going back and forth with their protest is because we decided not to join them, they know what we are made of, guns and bullets have never stoped us at anytime, we are Biafrans, we are not Nigerians, we are not our ancestors, we will stop at nothing to get to our destination which is complete and total liberation. We do not want a better Nigeria, what we want is Biafra and we must get Biafra.

COURAGE IS COMMITTING YOURSELF TO THE CORRECT COURSE OF ACTION REGARDLESS OF THE COST ASSOCIATED TO IT. EVERY HUMAN BEING I BELIEVE IS MADE IN THE IMAGE OF THE DIVINE, SCARED AND UNIQUE. AND IF WE GET AWAY FROM THIS PRINCIPLE, AS WE HAVE, WE NOT ONLY HAVE MORAL DEGRADATION, WE NOT ONLY HAVE THE COLLAPSING SOCIETY AROUND US, BUT IT’S BAD FOR THAT BEING ITSELF. THAT BEING ITSELF IS UNIQUE. THAT BEING HAS RIGHTS AND WHO ARE WE TO SAY JUST BECAUSE WE’RE OLDER THAT WE GET TO MURDER IT.”

Steyer: Becerra is saying, “We’re not going to change anything.” And I’m saying that’s ridiculous. The truth is, we have to make California affordable for Californians, and we have to get back to the idea of a joyous state where we not only imagine the future, we create it—and we do it together.

“If we don’t do something now, we are on a dangerous road. A day of reckoning is coming. As a world, we’re going to see it. And we have no excuse. We have no excuse when everything comes to bear and this box is opened and we see inside. We have no excuse as a nation. We have no excuse as a world to look at this and say we didn’t know. We do know… When we start to go in to northern Gaza, we are going to see things that are going to bring the world to their knees. Mark my words, we are going to see human suffering like the world has not seen in a long time. And it’s going to bring us to our knees. And we have an opportunity right now to stop this and to do the right thing. And if we don’t, we are complicit in that. And the world is going to see it. And that day is coming.” — Former GHF contractor Anthony Aguilar on why he is speaking out (via MSNBC, The Weekend Primetime)

Jimi Wanjigi: We should not pay our debt; it is not only logical, but it is the only way we don’t die. We are dying as a complete nation. When we say odious, it is illegal debt that is costing us. This year alone, it is going to be 91 percent of the taxes that we contribute to the government. This year alone, for every Kenyan, it is 40,000 shillings they are paying. For every working Kenyan, it is 120,000 shillings, 10,000 shillings a month, you are paying to something that you did not approve. If this debt was not passed by Parliament, why should we pay it? #CitizenSundayLive

Incredible last few minutes of the Rick Rubin / Adam Neumann interview. I got chills listening to this. --- Adam: We'll connected to this week's portion. We all have something that we're slaves to. We all have an addiction to anger, to ego, to power, whatever it is, idol worship that we have. We all have an Egypt. We all need to leave that Egypt, come out of it. When we come out of that Egypt, we all face a Red Sea. When we see that Red Sea, we all need to have the courage to walk into it so far that we drown. Only when we're willing to drown will the Red Sea be split and we'll go to our next level. We then go to our next level. We see the Red Sea split. Suddenly we're like, oh, everything is okay. And we forget. The moment we forget, we step into the desert. We all have to walk through our version of desert. That desert is between us, us, and God. No one else. The only decision we get to have is how long we're going to journey through that desert. Are we going to journey for 14 days like the children of Israel were supposed to? Or are we going to journey for 40 years because we're not learning our lesson? Our choice is not, are we going to get into the desert or not? It's how long will we be in. And once we go out of that desert, we all have our version of the promised land. And if we have the courage to look inside, see our own correction, our own limitation, look at it clearly now and say, I see you, and I'm going to get over it. I'm going to learn. I'm going to grow. I'm going to understand that life is not about falling down. It's about how I'm going to get up. I'm going to fall 1,000 times so I can get up 1,001 times. And in that last time when I get up and I'm actually ready to go to my next level, I'm going to wish for you, for me, and for everybody who are listening — please, may we have the courage to go to our next level because we know that the promised land is waiting right after it. And may we not be afraid when the whole world is saying this or that about us. Who cares? It's about what you think, what your wife thinks, what your kids think, and what the universe thinks. Rick: Amen. Adam: Amen. Thank you. Thank you, Hashem. Thank you.
