You don’t hate the media enough The New York Times is running a hit piece on Donald Trump and the DOJ for arresting immigrant shop owners accused of Food Stamps fraud because they are only stealing small amounts, like tens of thousands of dollars worth “The amount of fraud he is accused of committing is very low by federal standards. Many US attorney offices have long had rules that said it was only worth pursuing fraud cases if the dollar amount was a half a million dollars or more” But then they contrast this by saying, the Trump admin is going after these small time foreigner criminals while letting bigger cases go free and be dismissed. But that’s not true The example they give is an Executive at Fatburger who pulled tens of millions out of his own company and was being charged The New York Times says the Trump Admin dismissed the case, but that’s not what happened The Trump DOJ simply made a priority change saying those types of crimes would be handled by the SEC, and this case was. The SEC handled this as a civil fraud case and there was a settlement But The New York Times doesn’t tell you that part.
