Reducing the taxes, development charges, fees, and regulations your governments pile onto new housing in B.C. In some cases, government-imposed costs can approach or exceed 30% of the cost of delivering a new home. And who ultimately pays that? The homebuyer. So before blaming developers for housing affordability, maybe acknowledge the government’s own role in making housing so expensive. Adding another tax while ignoring the pile of government costs already attached to housing is pretty hypocritical.
