The OpenCode desktop app has worktree support now and I need your feedback! Okay, maybe not *need*, but I want it!

My stream overlay stuff getting in the way smh

@opencode i thought this was slack

@opencode do you find yourself using worktrees?

@opencode Using them a ton, come hang on twitch you can see how I’m using them

@opencode merging locally is the way I prefer it. Going to github and merging the PR from there takes you too far away from the flow.

@opencode Feedback related to plugins within the desktop app is also appreciated!

@opencode the desktop app is becoming more and more usable. I prefer it to terminal now! One thing though, why take away the MCPs indicator at the top right? I liked it.

@opencode It’s coming back much better

Check out how codex did this, it feels like a much more natural abstraction. The workspaces are abstract and 1:1 with the session, not long-lived containers. A session is either local, in a workspace, or in the cloud. This greatly reduces the cognitive load of using them and simplifies it to "run this isolated". Seeing the worktrees and their auto-generated names in the UI feels like a leaky abstraction. Shove the down into the session IMO. Just my $0.02 as someone that really wants to see this be the best it can be.

@opencode Yeah, we’re headed this way I think

@opencode Beautiful, thanks for the update and the speed run of features!

@opencode Worktrees are one of those features that quietly changes your whole cadence. Less branch juggling, more parallel work without context loss. If the UX makes “new task = new worktree” feel effortless, teams will actually stick with it.

@opencode tried worktree in conductor before but been sticking with opencode cli. this might actually get me to try the desktop app

@opencode This is awesome! To me the only thing left is to show the project tree with the changed files in the "review" tab, similar to a PR in GH. Alternatively for a start, a new tab with it might work as well.

@opencode Say please bro

@opencode ssh support please 🙏

@opencode Great! Will it eventually come to TUI? dont mind playing with desktop for a bit to test

@opencode This is absolute fire and you made me want to try it finally ;] Problem is I might need to rewrite all my plugins if I start using it.

@opencode Rebase / Merge feels like the right DX to me. Awesome work right here, super clean. 🫰

@opencode wait does TUI have worktree support and I just haven't figured it out?

Really love the idea of having backing systems separate from worktrees, should make async work in the future so much easier. I personally only really find myself using worktrees in the context of a specific PR, so I'd find the current UI a bit redundant. I generally work with worktrees in flows similar to vibe-kanban, where the worktree/container gets spun up on convo start and I don't have to care about it. Really like the idea of having a button to rm the worktree or stop the docker container. Honestly not sure if any tool could automate that correctly, so it's a great idea to start with a button. For docker maybe you could go a step further and indicate container status?

@opencode I've tried the web app, 2 things I think would make it better. Once the response stops streaming if immediately put you at the end so if you're in the middle of reading messes u up and would be cool to have a copy button on markdown block

@opencode i just saw it last night and it's absolutely amazing! much needed feature

@opencode To me worktrees are worth it only if agent is fully equipped. We do slim deployments (only stateless external services if possible) and I use worktrunk to maintain worktrees. It’s because without Tidewave Elixir apps are 10x harder to write for agents. wt uses hooks for that…

@opencode When I have "parallelizable" phases in the same PR, I usually spin up multiple worktrees and squash back into the original branch Was using the CLI and a couple scripts to open tmux windows and make changes Having it directly in desktop's integrated terminal is awesome!

@opencode im gonna enjoy this

@opencode probably figure out local merging/rebasing before making the pr dx better. also add hooks for stuff like post-create, post-removal, post-merge yada yada

@opencode someday I will wake up early enough to catch your stream again... this move to west coast made it almost impossible,

@opencode Dang this is good. I want vertical panes (will try wt for now) too if you can add it. If you search by my username ( I have some quality feedback for Desktop. I'm using it a ton & would love some basic features.

@opencode I'm trying to get into worktrees and this sounds like the right opportunity. Having a workflow to create a PR directly would be really nice.

@opencode Pretty cool. Sorry for the side note but Codex doesn't really work very well on Open Code. Feel like it's asking me too many questions instead of going and doing things.

@opencode I’ve heard this from a lot of people, it’s wild bc very much not my experience! Do you reference files when you prompt? What thinking level?

@opencode Usually no I don't reference files and I feel like Codex really wants me to be a too specific. I use medium since that's what I use with Codex CLI. It works way better with the CLI. Kind of the opposite experience than Gemini. I feel it works better in OpenCode than native CLI.

@adamdotdev @opencode What version were u having this with / what version r u on

@adamdotdev @opencode I think I am always on latest since OpenCode auto updates. So whatever was latest yesterday. Didn't use with Codex today

@opencode This unlocks cleaner parallel development.

@opencode I love it. Is this also available for linux (ubuntu)?

I will try it! Opencode is a truly amazing product and I've used it a lot with ChatGPT5.2 Codex for iOS development (I am a rookie in iOS) and it seems to do a much better job than Claude while giving me awesome rate limits. However, I think instead of a desktop version it would be better to focus on making the coding agent as good as possible (I love the TUI).

@opencode For some reason OpenCode Desktop is very choppy on M4 Pro - happy to provide more information as desired

@opencode Any plans for a desktop UI plugin story? I’d love extensibility points so a custom OpenCode plugin can talk to (or embed) a companion web UI.

@opencode Worktree support in the desktop app is a nice quality-of-life win—glad to see the UI catching up to what devs actually need to branch fast.

@opencode is there anyway for desktop app to access the sessions from cli?

@opencode Nice! been using worktrees a lot (i prefer it over multiple clones). been meaning to give the desktop app another spin to see the recent progress compared to the TUI.
