I misspoke but, Siakam was open at the catch point OG did contest the shot he was just late So I guess it makes some sense lol

To counter this... the Knicks need to: 1. Communicate better defensively 2. Know their assignments individually and the defensive scheme better 3. Stop getting caught looking at the ball which leads to wide open 3's or backdoor cuts 4. Keep their hands up at all times and get back in transition KAT has got to be better defensively and stay out of drop coverage... Thibs could help him better by starting Mitch at 5 and moving Josh Hart to the bench... you already have 3 defensive liabilities in the starting 5... You can reduce that to two by putting Hart on the bench giving OG and Mikal a sense of security knowing Mitch is behind them to anchor the defense

Yup. I definitely think the miscommunication has been something that is somewhat fixable. Too many errors and it’s led to some open shot opportunities

Celtics did the same exact thing - we just didn’t hit shots for 2 games. Knicks traded a solid/solid+ defense to get KAT, and their offense just isn’t good enough to make up for KAT AND brunson on one team

You can mostly cover up for a bad defender at PG, you cannot cover up for a bad defender at the 5 when he’s the only big man on the floor. KAT is flat out not a winning player bc of his D and lack of basketball IQ.

the difference between a good and elite defense is that an elite defense has all 5 guys locked in and communicating. a good defense always has 1 or 2 guys who are taking plays off and thats the difference. just compare okc and nyk for example
