"Behind the words 'comfort women' were real people – our neighbors, sisters and mothers. We remember them so this history is never repeated," says photographer Ahn Se-hong, who has spent more than two decades documenting the lives of 13 Korean "comfort women" left behind in China after World War II. His new exhibition, Names Engraved in the Backroads, brings their stories back into focus through portraits, personal belongings and archival documents.
