Landmark pension increase for retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). First review of NSITF pensions in 21 years, with some pensioners receiving increases of over 1,000%. Introduction of a new end-of-service benefit scheme for retiring employees of Treasury-funded MDAs. Launch of the Minimum Pension Guarantee to strengthen retirement income security. Introduction of the PenCare Health Initiative, expected to commence within the next three months, to provide healthcare support for retirees alongside their pensions.

The scheme has been prepared with a lot of consultation with industry, trade unions, more than 25 ministries of the government of India, with all the state governments, and with the regional workshops, which were done in the states to consult the industry there and the officers, so it's a consultative approach. PM was very clear that the scheme should be simple and effective so that the real benefit of the scheme reaches the youth of the country, particularly the first-timers who are entering the workforce, and also it serves as an incentive for employment generation, particularly in the manufacturing sector... More than 3.5 crore jobs are expected as a result of the scheme."

But some states going back to the Old Pension Scheme is a mistake. We will see how well they do...You can always modify the New Pension Scheme to take care of the concerns raised. Going back to the Old Pension Scheme is a bad idea."

This scheme is the result of the employment-centric policy of PM Modi. PM Modi had designed a 5-year program to ensure employment for the youth of the country. Under this, the ELI scheme has been introduced. Under this scheme, any youth who has secured a new job will be given Rs 7,500 twice a year...Through the ELI scheme, over the next 4 years, Rs 1 lakh crore will be provided to employees and employers..."
