In the name of SIR, the Election Commission has snatched away the voting rights of lakhs of people in Bengal. Not only that, the anti-Bengal BJP has repeatedly used terms like “infiltrators” and “Bangladeshis,” creating fear among ordinary people. The Election Commission has not published any data or list identifying who among the lakhs of disenfranchised people are supposedly “infiltrators” or “Bangladeshis.” It has become clear to the people that the very institution responsible for protecting democracy has acted at the behest of the BJP.

We do not support or condone violence in any form. But one must understand the deep frustration of the people of North Bengal, who repeatedly voted for BJP, only to be met with betrayal by Narendra Modi and BJP. Today’s unrest is a direct expression of the anger of ordinary citizens, who have been abandoned in their time of need. Even in the midst of this crisis, BJP leaders chose photo-ops over providing any meaningful relief to the affected people. Their actions, or lack thereof, speak volumes about their disregard for those who placed their trust in them.
