This is a cameo by Franco Nero in Tarantino's Django Unchained (2012). Nero, star of the original 1966 Django, plays a slave owner who asks Jamie Foxx's Django to spell his name. Django notes "The D is silent," and Nero replies "I know"—a nod to the legacy. Perfect meta-reference!
