The permissioned-chain thesis is losing. "Every major asset manager is choosing public blockchains." BlackRock, Janus, Apollo, New York Life, all building tokenization on public chains. Bhaji Illuminati, CEO & Co-founder of Centrifuge, names the asset managers voting with their deployments, and they're not choosing walled gardens.

Previously, many people believed that large institutions would only use permissioned chains (chains with access controls, such as private or consortium chains) due to concerns about compliance and security. But reality is showing the opposite: they are choosing public chains + a permissioning to take advantage of: - Deeper liquidity - Composability with DeFi (using tokenized funds as collateral, borrowing immediately, instant redemption…) - Lower costs and broader connectivity

@itsbhaji @centrifuge $cfg EXTRACTED for 5 years and then tries to leave the token thing and turn into a stock. Stop giving them a plattform,\ as it just discredits the rollup.

@itsbhaji @centrifuge public rails for real-world assets. that's the onboarding we built @0xfinwizz for. Once the assets live onchain, someone still needs to explain what that means to the holder.

@itsbhaji @centrifuge CP171: There is a single value accrual mechanism: CFG. There is no equity business. CP172: Let’s convert CFG into equity. Why the 180? Why can’t both the business and $CFG win? Holders are asking. @itsbhaji

Coinbase CEO: Tokenization will be great for asset management companies “I think [tokenization] will create more demand for funds and products. I think it’s going to democratize access and reduce a lot of the back office fees and costs to operate that type of business. More broadly, this term ‘tokenization’ is the idea that you have an underlying asset and then you make a digital token that 1:1 represents it. The first case we’ve seen this take off with is stablecoins… that’s the tokenization of the dollar. That took off and is doing great. It’s a huge growth area. We’re now seeing the tokenization of all these other asset classes — this can happen in real estate, private credit, and the funds that BlackRock, Apollo, and these firms put out. I think it’s going to just create more demand for their products essentially.” The world's largest asset managers are already doing this, and they're building on Ethereum: - BlackRock's BUIDL fund: ~$2.4B in tokenized U.S. Treasuries - JPMorgan's MONY: tokenized money market fund, seeded with $100M - Franklin Templeton's BENJI: $680M+ on-chain government money fund - Fidelity's FDIT: tokenized money market fund launched on Ethereum - Ondo Finance: $1.4B+ across tokenized Treasury products - WisdomTree, Hashnote, Superstate, Amundi, SocGen FORGE — all live Tokenized money market funds alone grew from $3B to $9B in a single year. Ethereum hosts ~57% of all tokenized real-world assets by value. Source: Norges Bank (Mar 2026)

21 major financial institutions are joining forces to enter the stablecoin race and will be using a public blockchain instead of building in their own walled garden "Citi, Goldman, other global banks, and asset managers team up on stablecoin venture. This is 21 major financial institutions committing to establishing a new stablecoin company during the second half of 2026, subject to closing conditions. This is Bank of America, Capital One, Citi, Goldman, Wells Fargo, Fidelity, WisdomTree, Deutsche Bank, Santander, UBS, MUFG, and more." "This was announced at the end of last year, that there were 10 of them looking at potentially maybe considering the chance that they would do something. Well, now we have a firm date and a firm plan, and that has increased from 10 to 21 institutions. They're saying that they will have a dollar-denominated stablecoin by the beginning of 2027, and that a euro stablecoin is the next priority, with additional G7 currencies potentially following." "The potential use cases they've floated are cross-border payments, asset settlement, wholesale and institutional transactions, but importantly, potential retail payments, which also was not in the initial proposal." "I also found it very, very good news that the tokens are intended to operate on public blockchains rather than exclusively inside a private bank network." "They have not announced what public blockchains that will be, but I can assure you that when they do, that will be extremely bullish for the underlying tokens. It's big news that it is not going to be behind a walled garden."
