The piano in this is way better than the remastered version

i quite like how much room the strings and flute(?) are given in the orchestrated soundtrack, bit of a shame it loses out some of the piano detail of this version still like both a lot, they weirdly have quite different emotional impact to me that fits better at different points

the piano being so frantic speaks to me because of the context they use his motif in this fight

yea i agree, it does a better job at evoking that feeling of it being the last struggle against the finality of the situation. there's a real sense of urgency and desperation in contrast to the melancholic, bittersweet (sometimes almost hopeful) strings.

orchestrated version has a bigger feeling of inevitability of a bittersweet ending to me? more about coming to terms with the situation while reflecting on the life he's had. even if the entire situation has been cruel, kinda letting go of some of the anger towards sora.

yeah when se remastered a bunch of their games on PS3 they rerecorded all of the music and they all sound much worse, FFX was the worst probably which is why later releases give you the option between original and remastered music lol

now hold up i don't think the remasters actually sound bad

i dont either, i just think the newer recordings dont have the same charm

Some og songs I prefer over the remastered ones. I even prefer the way Roxas sounded in the original KH2. He sounded more cool, I dunno how to explain it better lol

Kinda true of a lot of the midi tracks. They just kinda have that jagged edge to the sound that adds just enough to make it more often superior to the orchestrated tracks despite their higher production

Some of the instrumentals in the Final Mix version feel almost muffled and it's weird cause it's not something that happens on every single one. So yeah I feel this version hits a bit harder due to the more powerful piano

I feel like a lot of aspects of the midi tracks end up coming out a bit dampened in translation. I'm just glad we have the option of using mods to preserve playing with the original music. 😁

All of the battle themes sound better on O.G. synth tracks and some non battle themes like Lazy Afternoons...I miss MIDIs.

Another song I found just a straight downgrade was Lazy Afternoons. Sounds super clunky and unbalanced.

The remastered version in general sounds too quiet to me while this one sounds just right

ps2 midis in general are very superior i think only gummi ship music is superior in the remaster

That one is in the same tier as aerith theme it's sound way more sadder and dramatic in the original compared to remastered version wich still sound good regardless
